Not sure how interested people here would be of this. But it's good to know that DXR technology is starting to grow within the indie community as well.

demo description and download link can be found here - https://forums.unrealengine.com/community/released-projects/1624825-attack-from-outer-space-playable-dxr-ray-tracing-tech-demo

The potential I'm hoping to see is we get to the level in the RTX video below (not sure if real-time) in gaming, with characters, AI, etc..

People have been enjoying ray-traced visuals for years in games through pre-computed lighting. This is why Nvidia and others are struggling to sell real-time ray-tracing because the difference is negligible when compared to well executed pre-computed lighting. As far as reflections go, all that is needed for most gamers to be happy is that it looks "shiny". Still cool tech but it benefits game makers more than gamers.

true, very difficult to sell the concept. I think what gamers might start to see in the near future is indie developers producing quality graphics similar to that of big budget studios. As they don't have to do screen space reflections and baked lightening & shadows.

Hm...

Would anyone believe that my thoughts are omplicated on this topic or er even care who knows the point is...

Ray trac ing is important to the future of gaming... that's a part... just like any other technological advancement....

It's arguably even semi-critical because we want games to appear the best and model reality to an extent...

So it's a good technology however it's also difficult to use properly and the hardware has to match pace...

Stuff like that... important things gotta check the boxes in order to keep moving.
