Poll At what price would you scalp a ps5 for? If any? (Poll) (46 votes)
I myself would never scalp. It creates a new standard of shubbery.

I would put it on auction for a week starting at 99cents. In my mind, if you're dumb enough to bid hundreds of dollars over what its worth, well, you're dumb af.
Unless I was in dire need of money, wouldn't.
Sell it at a reasonable price and ensure the person being sold too, wasn't nefarious. As in, just gonna sell it again at a scalper price.
I scalped PS3s when they launched, made a 2X ROI. I was a broke ass high school kid then, I haven’t the time or financial distress to do something like that now.
But, speaking candidly, if I had one to sell I would let it go for $100-$200 markup. Pays for a few games and a nice dinner with company (the latter costing more than the former 😂).
If you're so broke and desperate you need to scalp consoles then you aren't as broke and desperate as you are trying to lead others to believe.. It's a scummy practice and I wouldn't ever have any part of it. It should be made illegal, there should be steps taken to put items in your cart that can't be completed by bots, and the retailers allowing multiple sales to one person should be blocked. Allowing 1-2 sales per account and doing the other things I said above would solve the problem. The problem here isn't SONY or MS... it's the retailers that sell their products and the shady people that take advantage of one of the last few systems we have in place which allows freedom of choice. Sure, that exercises the right to do the wrong thing... but that is the excuse always used when they strip our freedoms. The choice of the few ruin things for everyone else.. what else is new?
Only way I am getting myself a PS5, or any console for that matter, is if someone gives it to me to free.
Just not worth the cost, given how little you get for your money when you buy a console. Poor value.
Also scalping is lame.
I hate scalpers and the people who buy from them. If people wouldn't pay more, scalpers would be out of business and more ps5s would be in gamers hands. That's much better for the ecosystem than scalpers having thousands of them for sale on eBay.

Yeah, as much as I dislike scalpers, the fact people do pay scalper money for a console is the incentive that keeps scalpers going. People willing to pay those prices are what creates the demand to do it, and those people are just as responsible for the practice as the scalpers themselves. I would say they get what they deserve paying double price for something, but the reality is that just means the scalpers will keep the shelves bare so nobody who isn't willing to pay them can get one. It harms everyone.
@hitmanactual: Those that buy the consoles at the marked up price take no blame? Supply issues? Hype?
This hobby has a strange infatuation with hating the reseller market. I hope none of you get into fashion or toy collecting. Things are FAR worse over there...
@goldenelementxl: Scalper alert.
Nah, but I'm not gonna demonize a group of people just because they are profiting off of a supply/demand imbalance. They also aren't that hard to beat. Follow certain folks on social media. Sub to threads on related forums. There has been more than enough tools out there to help folks buy at retail prices.
If you are scalping anything you are a piece of shit.
This.
People paying a scalper $1,000+ for a $400 console are the problem. If people didn't pay these ridiculous prices, scalpers would move on to the next thing. Also, if there were more consoles available... I know, I know. Y'all never want to blame the consumers. I get it
Selling my pre-ordered one for MSRP to my friend, if it ever arrives.
when did you order it? Think verkkokauppa has managed to clear preorders dating to June or something so far...

At the end of August from VPD.
they have apparently shipped some from july so it might not be that far away.
Edit: you apparently frequent io-tech forums too :D
None. I'm not a scumbag, which the world has too many of. Not even in politics, police or crime orgs either. Just look at panic buyers in grocery stores.

No one denies consumers are part of the problem, but the scalpers themselves get the blame too. Chicken Egg situation.
Well someone out there is buying these up off scalpers. They are making a killing. All you guys are angels lol
I already got one at msrp but i'd pay maybe 600.. Sell it for about the same.
While it would be nice if people wouldn’t pay scalper prices for these things let’s be real here there’s always going to be some people who can afford to do that and to them it’s just a minor inconvenience to get what they want when they want it. Scalping isn’t a “reseller market” these people are using bots to quite literally get ahead of average people who just want to pick up something at its retail price. Thanks to technology scalpers are preventing literally thousands of legitimate buyers from getting something. There’s absolutely no way someone can convince me that this is in anyway a fair or reasonable thing that should be allowed. They are taking an already supply constrained product and making it even more limited for legitimate purchasers. That’s just wrong no matter how you want to look at it.
