Assassin's Creed Series vs. Thief Series... which one's better? Poll

There seem to be alot of similarities between the two games, but there hasnt really been a next gen version of the Thief series yet... but can they even do it now since assassins creed has become so popular... i can see it now... a new thief game comes out and all the kids out there are all like "THIEF?? way to copy assassins creed! FLop!!! i calledz it!?+!"

They have little in common. Thief is an actual stealth game, Assassin's Creed is an action adventure.

I lol'd. This is like comparing a sweet evening with a lover to a root canal from the dentist. Thief by 20,000 leagues.

Not that AC is bad or anything (ACII was pretty awful at the end), but you can't compare the two. Thief is STILL unmatched in terms of stealth and importance of patience and lighting.

Thief is about Stealth, AC not so much. Heck..all you do in AC is kill people, while in Thief you're not supposed to.

Thief 2 is the best Stealth game I've ever played. I consider the AC games to be entertaining as well, but I believe the high point of the AC series is leagues lower than the high point of the Thief series.

To be fair, I've only played Splinter Cell 2, but that was pretty bad. The linearity killed any fun the game could have had - especially after playing Thief's massive, open-ended levels.

I've also heard that the Splinter Cell series fell apart recently, to the point where you can't even get through levels without killing people? Or was it that they took out non-lethal takedowns? Either way, it didn't sound like much of a stealth game...

Honestly assassin's creed doesn't play like a stealth game, it plays more like an action adventure game and from what gameplay I've seen of thief, the stealth mechanics of the game work a lot better.

They're not alike at all.

Assassin's Creed- Better art direction and game worlds, better narratives, better action gameplay, more variety

Thief- Better stealth gameplay, better atmosphere

Both have too many glitches, both have good main characters.

Assassin's Creed feels a little more like a story driven adventure than a series of missions, a fate which sometimes afflicts Thief. Obviously Thief has been dormant this generation, and game developers have learned how to do that sort of thing better, perhaps when Thief 4 comes out it can bring the series method of integrating its usually decent stories up to date.

Overall, right now I have to go with Assassin's Creed.

I have only played Deadly Shadows and AC1, and I love Deadly Shadows. AC on the other hand...meh, doing the same 3 missions 9x in a row, no thanks. Non-existent story with a complete lack of variety in gameplay, and that got a 9/10…
