Are you getting the NieR remaster/revamp?

I never got to play the original NieR. Always wanted to, but skipped on it back when, and now it's hard to find/expensive. The remaster looks to fix many of the flaws of the original, it seems. I've heard this game is something of an oddball masterpiece, so I'm pretty hyped on the remaster. And now I'll finally get to play the sequel, as I held off because I couldn't get my hands on the original. I think remastering/remaking old games that are no longer accessible outside of something-we-can't-talk-about-on-this-forum should be encouraged in the industry, so I'm picking up NieR Replicant day-one.

Sure, when SE lets me play the proper (Windows Store) version of Nier Automata.

Lol, I actually didn't notice the price tag. Yeah, seems a bit high. Hopefully this is reflected in the quality.

It has HDR and multiple fixes. I'm just pissed off that SE would publish multiple versions of the same game on PC.

Imagine paying 60euro for a game, a broken one which never receives a single patch. And then years later the same game gets published again in another store, with all the fixes... It makes me want to skip SE games from now on.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I just got a new (first) PC a few months back, so I'm new to PC gaming things in general. Multiple versions of one game is something of a headache I'm finding.

I dont really like buying ports but I never played "brother" story so its pretty tempting.

Yeah I’d like to get it at some point myself. I have the original Xbox 360 version and despite its shortcomings in the combat and bland enemy designs I rather enjoyed it and played through it multiple times. The story is what really pulled me through the game. Am very interested in comparing this remake to it.

It will end up on Game Pass eventually, I will wait.

@lamprey263: Fair enough. Personally I've been waiting on this revamp for a long time, so I feel inclined to pay up front to support the dev.

Probably gonna wait on a price drop.

@wandering_halls: You should be fine buying most games on Steam. Keep your eye out for freebies.

Steam reviews are mostly a good indicator too, if things are off.

Yeah I've been jumping back and forth between GOG and Steam. I like a lot of older stuff so GOG is especially good. Working out well so far. I haven't really tried any other places. If you have any suggestions I'd be much obliged. And hell yeah, PC freebies are great.

Got a 144hz monitor and a delicious high-end VR setup too. Pretty happy.

Don't know much about the game, is this originally a Platinum game?

I read someone else is doing this remaster, if so i would consider it if none of my money lands in Platinum's pocket as that company is pathetic.

I'd be a sucker for jumping on this desperately because I am fortunate enough that a a game I am interested wasn't kept off Xbox because Square Enix wanted to bless Sony with favoritism.

Probably not. Never played it and thought the Automota demo was underwhelming on PS4. Maybe I'm missing something special, but I've got heaps of games to deal with

Playing automata on GP first, I still can't seem to figure out if I like it or not. Very weird game.

Don't like the changes, but I'll pick it up when it's on sale.
