I have to say GoW looks as good as anything I've seen on a PC.

@calvincfb: The real waste of money is consoles. They can't run games properly and suck as a primary platform. They force you to buy shit hardware to get access to exclusives. I got respect for MS though because they let you play their games on PC.

@calvincfb: Barely better performance? A lot of console games are stuck at 30fps while the PC version can run at over 100fps (often with higher settings).

I don't give two shits if a game is running on 30, 60, plus 90fps, I can see the difference but is just not enough for me to throw money at the pc, I just don't care, it's the diminishing returns, not enough to motivate me knowing the same game is on a cheaper platform.

Console exclusive games in there 30fps, I'll give'em a pass cause I have no ways o play them on PC like PS4 exclusive games. At least MS is so kind enough to bring there games on PC so that's a huge thanks.

@calvincfb: Downplay it all you want, but the the difference in quality is often huge on PC and well worth the investment. Also, you touched on it before... My issue is that I can not play all the games on PC and I am forced to play exclusives at peasant standards on shit hardware.

Good for you people if you're not peasants and have high standards, I'm perfectly happy enjoying my games in 1080/30fps with low to medium settings.

I think some people often overstate the importance of 60FPS. In fact if they wasn't told I bet some wouldn't even notice the difference.

@sexclusive: they also overstate the relevance of others opnions, I've said like 4 times already that I don't care and they're STILL trying to convince me their money was well spent.

@sexclusive: I can spot a low frame rate instantly. It is very distracting and kills the immersion for me. That is why I am so passionate about high frame rate. 60fps should be the minimum standard for all games.

There are genres I love that more-or-less only exist on PC. Consoles always have great exclusives, but this gen very few that are not on PC, and they still have to face that PC trump card. I guess my real question is "why choose?". I like and game on both, even if I think PC is the better platform

30 fps vs 60 fps , is double the number, plus you have a lot of PC only game that you can play on PC, it is not an AAA game like Sony or Nintendo, but it is very enjoyable game, until now i have spend 1000 hours on Civ 6, which you can only find on PC, plus all the Total war series on on PC, if you really like strategy game or multiplayer shooting game like Overwatch, CSGO, or Fortnite, PC is the best place to play.

But I notice console already catching up with PC most multiplatform title on console run on High-Medium combination sometimes even ultra, with stable performance

Yet here you are trying to convince them that theirs isn't well spent. Their opinions on the topic matter as much as yours does and 60 fps is better than 30 fps, fact. If you are used to playing your games at 60+fps you cant not notice the low frame-rate when you go back to console. Deny it all you want, but its true. The diminishing returns excuse is laughable considering the amount of things related to your gaming that you can do on a gaming PC that you cant do on a console and then theres the plethora of things you can use your PC for outside of gaming that a console cant do, all included in the cost weather its a high end gaming PC or not.

If you are used to 30fps and can enjoy playing at low framerates then thats fine, enjoy it, but pretending its trivial to have greater performance in games and that the only advantage to PC is those higher yet somehow trivial framerates just shows how ignorant you are.

@calvincfb: I may have spent more money on my PC than on a console, but in addition to it being a productivity machine that I use for school all the time games cost about half as much as on consoles on a good day. My budget's a little thin this month so I thought games were out of the question, but oh what's that? A game on my Steam wishlist for less than three dollars? Yes, please. Last month it was four games plus DLC for twenty dollars. Since I got my new PC I've spent less than one hundred dollars on thirteen games, on consoles I'd have spent over twenty dollars more just for two games. Don't talk to me about price.

And if your only selling point is that the makers of your consoles have stopped people on other consoles from playing certain games then you don't have any selling point. That's basically an admission that your system is subpar and needs strong-arm tactics in order to survive.

Finally, yes, graphics cards are expensive right now, but they'll come back down in price once the cryptomining craze ends and/or production adjusts to meet demand. Fact is before the spike in parts prices you could build a machine that outperformed consoles for about the same price.

I've owned a PS4 and gaming PC all gen, and 95% of my gaming time is on the PC. the PS4 gets used for like 2-3 exclusives a year.

There are entire genres that only really exist on PC, and even though console gamers like to discredit them, they happen to be some of my favourite genres (realistic FPS and strategy games).

Another reason for me is flexibility. I can play PC games on my monitor with a keyboard and mouse, or on my TV with a controller (I have my PC hooked up to my TV at all times so its a cinch). for splitscreen games like Rocket League and Gears of War 4 i've used Nvidia Surround or whatever its called to trick games into thinking my TV and Monitor are one giant screen, and have one person play on the TV and one on the monitor which is freaking awesome.

and of course, there is the fact that 30fps feels like garbage once you get accustomed to 60. there are those who claim they can't tell the difference and those people are either liars or have very low standards. whenever I go back to my PS4 and have to play something at 30fps, its instantly noticeable and disappointing and actively detracts from my enjoyment of the game.

so from my perspective I can't see consoles ever being a better option than PC.

Consoles are extremely limited PC's. Therefore a console can never be better. The question is just dumb to start with.

PC

-Plays most XB1X or PS:PRO games at much higher gfx and extremely higher FPS. (LMAO Destiny 2 at 30 fps!)

-Much better library each year. By far.

-Better online. Console is like training wheel bicycle, PC is motorcycle.

-Don't have to completely buy a new system every 3 years, no online charges, cheaper games.

So sick of these comparisons. Define PC! It could be anything from a $299 desktop to a $3000 gaming setup. If you're gonna compare the two, they should at least be in the same price range.

PC is not one fixed box, you can make a PC to whatever specs you want.

And the benefits of building a PC are not the same as the benefits of buying a console.

Basically, it depends on what you want to get out of it. If you don't care about customization and productivity: **** it, you'll save $100-200 by buying a console instead of building a mid-grade PC.

This thread seems to omit any logical comparison of the two platforms.

speaking for myself when I am evaluating products or services as to which one is best. Cost is always considered AFTER the evaluation of which is best.

As long as pc has games like Total War, Stellaris, Civilization, Age of Empires, STALKER, Company of Heroes, Starcraft, and continues to get multiplats, it will remain my favorite system to game on. I prefer it to both my X1 and PS4, but that does not mean they are bad gaming machines for those that enjoy them more than PC gaming. I just look for something a bit different than some others do. No harm in that.

I would love to help you expand your horizons of PC game title. your list feels rather antiquated by todays standard.

Not even close. My PC still has far better performance, as well as far more games.

Assume someone is talking about a high end gaming PC, since this is a gaming forum.

One were almost every console gamer sources/cites websites that by default use high end gaming PCs for their reviews and tech breakdowns, since the forum started.
