Craziness! This game is amazing...
I'll be interested to see how well it retains players
I've played a couple hours, and will probably play a bit more, but its not really my cup of tea. I still prefer the more tactical/realistic approach to combat in a BR game that PUBG/Ring of Elysium offers... I'd rather play Overwatch or TF2 for this more class/ability based approach to gameplay.
I'd much rather have a new Titanfall game from these guys.
game is very well made but a bit overhyped imo
I've played PUBG extensively on PC when it first released all the way until the second map was released and eventually got burnt out on the game. I played a match of Fortnite and didn't like the game. Blackout was pretty decent.
Apex Legends? Pretty damn good. I didn't think I would get back into a Battle Royale type game so soon but I've been having a blast playing with my friends. Probably one of my favorite Battle Royale games and the fact that it's free? No reason not to try the game out.
Unfortunately this kind of quality from F2P game is rare, otherwise i would welcome more F2P multiplayer games.
Launch a well-made, polished and feature-complete game, get rewarded for it.
I know it should be obvious, but it's a surprisingly rare things these days.

And thats just it. F2P, pay to play, it really doesn't matter if the game is well-made which so far is a hallmark of Respawn.
I love the game and have been playing it for hours since launch. It is going to be a monster since you know they will intro new characters and weapons over the next year.
Just not my cup of tea, but hope it's good for the BR crowd. I feel zero progression when I play those games... Like even top 5 is so anti climactic. Free downloads always have potential to have crazy bloated numbers though... Interesting to see where it settles.
I played a bit of it and it is indeed very good. The gameplay mechanics are very polished and solid. The class system is quite good and it’s the best looking BR game in my opinion. I think the surprise launch helped them out as well.
Tried it out and far better then fortnite specially the shooting. Visually it looks nice. Didn't perform well on my PC tho, ~45 fps not something i would play for a long period of time. If they can optimize there engine a bit more and can give me 90+ fps i could probably bother to play a few more.
@TheEroica: Zero progression? The battle pass (coming soon) unlocks and stats are the progression. And the accomplishment of winning a match feels like nothing else in gaming. The anxiety shakes and sudden urge to make a bowel movement when it’s down to the top 2 or 3 is a feeling most other games can’t produce.

Thats a byproduct of the BR formula though. can't really attribute that to Apex
I didn't even know what it was. These fad games come too fast for my old brain to keep up. So, is Fortnite dead now?
Fortnite was always dead to me. Never played it once. As soon as I saw people crafting ramps and shit in the middle of a battle, I was completely turned off from the game.
The ping system for calling out stuff on the map and having it voiced out is awesome especially when playing with randoms with no mic. Wish more multiplayer games pick this up.
This is how I feel when I read about this game lol.
I just don't understand the appeal and it makes me feeel old .. kinda am though damn.

I only played a game, but I loved that aspect. I couldn't be bothered to grab my headset out of the drawer, so I played with no mic and it helped a ton.
This BR thing might just take a decade just wear off. :(....
its like the 'generic military shooter' equivalent of this gen
It's pretty good, although a bit too arcade-like for my taste. It is far better than Blackout, however.
It's a good game. My hope now is that A.) this number grows, and B.) they can keep these numbers for a long time.
What is so amazing about it?
It's free
And fun. And perfectly balanced. And everything a multiplayer shooter could aspire to.
It's a good game. You can still hate it for many reasons, but you can't say it's not a good game.
The reason BR games not attractive to me because i don't have any feeling against my enemies like when you play OverWatch comp or CS;GO Comp you will have that special feeling against enemy team or person and if person or team keep matching against you and you will feel extra achievements like when you lose first round against that team and come back in next round. There is no such thing in BR

The entire BR genre is overhyped imo :P
It’s ok, but I’ll stick with PUBG for my BR fix. It feels a little Fortniteish and not really that special. Why didn’t they bring in wall running and the double jump from the pilots in Titanfall? It would really make the game feel more unique. Lost opportunity if you ask me.

You on the east or west coast? I'm playing a lot at night,
I've played it, enjoyed it I guess. I'd like to see a solo mode as I despise playing with random people that don't posses the capcity to communicate or do anything selflessly. But well done wo Respawn, they've made a good game (not quiet as excited about it as I would be Titafall 3) but I'd personally rather have had it P2P, but that's just me hating the fact that brain dead kids and trolls can play for free and ruin my gaming experience.
The battle royale genre seems to have a new king every year:
2017 - PUBG
2018 - Fortnite
2019 - Apex?
...I wonder if there'll ever be a battle royale game truly based on (licensed from, not just inspired by) the actual Battle Royale movie itself?
Battle Royale: the official video game from the movie
@Bread_or_Decide: I thought Respawn made it without EA?
https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends
Dunno how or when it was made but they're still under EA's banner.
Cliffy B must be off somewhere crying. This is pretty much everything he hoped for when Lawbreakers came out. Game even has a couple of things that remind me of Lawbreakers. Minus the "Try hard" edginess.

Lawbreakers was an arena shooter, was it not? Completely different game. I believe that game failed mostly because no one today wants an arena shooter. If he's off crying, it should more be because of his own BR game Radical Heights didn't take off.

"You mean The Hunger Games?" <--- Most people today. :(
