Who cares if their weak, underpowered system is selling like hotcakes at the moment.  Anyone with half a brain knows that the Wii is nothnig more than a gimmick, and while gimmicks can be hot for a short while, the Wii craze is going to die hard.

The Wii is seriously underpowered, and it has a piss poor online system.   Nintendo learns nothing with each passing generation.   The n64 went with cartridges instead of cd-roms.   The Nintendo Gamecube skipped the online functionality completely.   And now with the Wii, Nintendo is passing on HD games, in addition to a very limited online offering.   Friend codes are a horrible idea.   They might fit in with Nintendo's family friendly theme, but the average or hardcore gamer wants something more akin to Xbox live.   I want to game with several people online, not 2 or 3 others.   Sega did that 7 years ago! That is just sorry.

And I am going to say it again:   Graphics matter!   The Wii has TERRIBLE  graphics for a next generation machine.   I can't believe how blind sheep are, going on and on about the "artistic style" of Super Paper Mario!  Pluuueeeaaaze!  That game looks like it can be done on the Sega Dreamcast, let alone Gamecube.   Inexcusable, but hey, Nintendo is known for fluff and filler.   There are how many Mario Party/sports titles now?  100,200?  I stopped counting.  It would be too much to ask of them to create a totally new and exciting franchise.   A more adult/mature themed Nintendo game?  Forget about it!!  Oh but wait, according to sheep, I MUST not understand the "fun" of gaming.   You have to jump on mushrooms and play Pokemon games to know the true meaning of gaming.    Heaven forbid I should mention any kind of shooter/mature game.   The insults come flying in with the thought of any game with guns on a Nintendo system.

Well, tough mario terds to the sheep.   I wish you guys would wake up and demand more of Nintendo, a company that lost its way a decade ago, and still fail to identify what the majority of gamers (particularly in the West) want.   1: Give me good online gaming.  2: Give me a console that has adequate power to deliver realistic (not artistic!) visuals.   3: Give me a good selection of third party developer titles with mature themes!  Not kiddie stuff!  Pokemon, monkey ball is kiddie!   I want stuff like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.   Quality ports of Tom Clancy games, that HAVE the online!   Grand Theft Auto Wii!  How about a Halo competitor for the Wii?  Impossible?  NO!!!  But will Nintendo attempt it?  Doubtful.   Even some great platformer titles NOT involving mario would help.

The above listed is EXACTLY what I want, and expect from Nintendo if I am going to purchase any more of their systems.   They won't get a penny more from me until they change.  I'm only sorry I sold My Gamecube now, since I can't play the superior version of Resident Evil 4 anymore.

I'm not going to answer every point as I'm not going to waste my time, but Nintendo, until now, have had the consoles with the best hardware for a while now, each generation. So because the Nintendo 64 had better graphics than PS1 it should have sold better? WRONG!

Becuase Gamecube had better graphics and hardware specs than PS2 it should have sold better? WRONG!

I don't think much more needs to be said on the subject.

You should've just wrote 'The Wii won't win this generation because it's a gimmick.' The rest is a blur of opinions than to truths.

Also, I think a game like Loco Roco is graphically better than many new games released.

If all you want is games where you kill people, then you are dead inside. I'd take Super Mario Bros over Resident Evil or Silent Hill any day. It's mindless, lighthearted, goofy fun. And no, Nintendo isn't going to win this generation, but they're not going to lose either.

I have great faith in the success of the Wii, so by implying that someone who think's the Wii can win is below average intelligence, you are thereby insulting me, which is against the terms of service. I have an I.Q. of over 150, don't insult my intelligence again.

Hmm.. how to counter with as few words as possible...

People who care about Wii sales:
Nintendo - They make money
Developers - More people with a Wii, the more people they can sell games too
Nintendo Fans - Have to give them ammo somehow
Nintendo Haters - Seriously, if they didn't care, they wouldn't be using it as a sticking point so often right?

The Underpowered Wii:
- Not a single point about what being 'adequately' powered provides

Multiplayer:
- Gloating over strangers, or having fun (and gloating over) friends. Which is better? Opinion yay!

Graphics:
For the most part, nothing but opinion. To the points that have *some* logic to them:
Nintendo are working on new franchises, but it's never good enough.
There are shooters and mature games. Again, it's never good enough.

What you want:
1. A PC
2. A PC
3. A PC

I guess I should have summarized my whole reply with "Buy a PC" since it caters to all your wants perfectly.

A lot of hardcore gamers buy all consoles.

What's your definition of "Hardcore" ?

Is it putting a lot of time into one or two game and getting really good at it.

Or buy every console/pc game and playing them all casually?

In my opinion, there is not enough time to play every game and getting really good at them all.

I know many "Hardcore" gamers that just own one console/pc and stick to only 1 o 2 games and just

owns everyone in the face.

Seriosuly... for being so "inferior" it seems to be doing great. And yes. it will die hard. meaning it will slowly pass off. IN 5 YEARS. at least nintendo doesn't boast their console to last 10 years.. we all know thats a croc of bull f***.i mean come on. Nintendo's "weak" system will be kicking the donkey **** out of the ps3... I hope it flops.. i want the ps3 to flop because that way, everyone will KNOW that sony is not a video game god... all the video game gods (like miyamoto) are losing it. I almost want to give up on gaming. I want to go back to 8-bit Excite bike, then play God of war. or gears or any other great game, cause excite bike was truly an amazing game.mario back in the day was better then anything. don't bash nintendo. Just cause your jealous of their sales....

Let's define 'hardcore' of a gamer who prefers the deeper, more involving and difficult titles. Wii has these sorts of games, particulary for Nintendo fans above else (which is both good and bad).

Seriously, they will never understand this. They will never understand why Crysis will never come to Wii, they will believe that anything will work long as you degrade the graphics. Well im sorry to burst your burble, but your going to need more than a graphics degrade by youre going to have the chop the game up so badly the its a shadow of what its meant to be. Seriously, leave them in their ignorance. They are going to say you are jealous of the sales.

You really don't get it do you?

This is all the same bibble babble that people pooped out when it was about the DS Vs PSP, and continued to so for at least the first year (in fact some people still haven't got that one yet), and look where we are now.

Let's be very very clear here...The DS is KICKING THE PSP's ASS!

I am a "hardcore" gamers and yes I personally am a little dissapointed with Wii for various reasons, and I am a Sheep, but at least I am smart enough to see what is happening here.

Nintendo isn't aiming this machine primarily at you or me and the market of "harcore" gamers out there. They are aiming the machine at the same market they aimed the DS at (softcore, hardcore, boys, girls, mums, dads, old folk, casuals and noobs etc) and that is why it will be a success and maybe even win the console war.

Whether you or even I like it or not the Wii is likely going to be huge and probably is going to win this generation...

Neh, I only read the first paragraph. LONG and BORING. I only bought Wii because it had Maro and I don't like playing Mega Bikini Beachball battle 360.

First of all I'm not really a Nintendo fan, getting that out of the way lets get started with my post.

You need to know your history about this company whoever made this post, Nintendo has been in the console industry the longest they have to be doing something right to stay in this game. Without Nintendo where would we be console wise? Nintendo has kept this console war strong with innovations. And innovations is what this industry needs. I'm going to say one more thing.

Nintendo has already won in their own right for stay for staying in the game this long.

despite the fact that the person who posted this isn't looking at this ad probably never will again i am going to attempt to answer all his points.

gimmicks have been addressed in a way i can;t

i've only used online gaming once and when i did i didn't really like it that much. there are people out there that like to not kill people that they have no idea of. the n64 went with cartiridges ... yeah? so what it works almost the same as my ps2. just because you can call yourself a hardcore gamer doesn't mean that you enjoy blowing people up online. you want to play with so many people? well then since you obviously don't like nintendo's games so much you'll be happy with xbox live and those games.

oh goodie someone who thinks that graphics matter. i honestly can't see what these people are thinking. do you seriously need the best graphics in the world to play a game? no. you just need to bae able to see what's going on.there are eight mario parties and several sports games. i wouldn't attack that fact at all. the fact tat they're making them means that someone must be buying them. a more adult nintendo game? red steel resident evil i think it's called hero. there are others but i don't know them. i'm pretty certain that nintendo isn't shoving they're games down your throat and telling you that you need to play them to experience gaming.

don't like kiddie? good for you don'tplay those games then. platformers that don't involve mario? well as far as i can tell most platformers are mario changed a little bit. kill enemies reach goal. also: sonic and the secret rings. grandtheft auto wii. i suppose they could do something like that. but that doesn't mean that they should.

if you didn't like them then you didn't have to give them a penny anyway. i think i deserve that. for bothering to make a full response to this.

a lot of what i said is just my opinions ... well ... i never said i wouldn't  include opinions. i consider myself a jhardcore gamer and a "sheep". yet somehow i like all those "kiddie games" that you said.i like a lot of the stuff that you said i wouldn't like because i was a hardcore gamer. you might not have a very good grip on that.

this was not meant to insult anyone or anything like that so i apologize if i have. also i'm kind of new to this i really usually don't post on game boards and the system wars boards that much.

the rumble feature in the controller was considered a gimmick but now it's a standard. the n64 had better graphics than ps1 but it didn't win. same applies to the gamecube.

I don't agree with your points but do agree with your title somewhat. I don't think people are deluded when they say Wii will win but i think they are ignorant. Nintendo still have a lot of work to do.

Ok to reply to the person that said DS is kicking the crap out of the PSP: You do realize that the PSP has sold 25million units right that is more than the xbox or the gamecube of last gen all within less than 3 years. How is this a failure? By all means the PSP is a success, because it is sony's first portable and it makes portables appeal to a different audience. Saying the DS kicks the crap out of the PSP just shows that you only care about sales.  The PSP like the Wii are both good for gaming because they appeal to audiences that are ignored by competitors. MS and Sony aim for the "hardcore" older gamer who appreciate more "mature" games with high definition graphics with the 360 and PS3, while the Wii aims for casual games and those who don't typically play games that may be interested in a new idea, a "gimmick" if you will. The PSP meanwhile breaks the mold of the portable gamer by appealing to the console gamer that doesn't feel like playing games for kids. The PSP applies to people who like multimedia whereas the ds appeals to casuals, kids, a nongaming audience, and fans of nintendo franchises. I think in system wars we need to get our heads out of our @$$e$ and realize that most of these platforms bring something good to the table that draws in different audiences to enjoy gaming.  The key word is ENJOY. I enjoy my PS3 and PSP, while my bro enjoys my games and his Wii and DS, while my friend ben enjoys his xbox and when he gets the money his 360.  I find nothing wrong with any of this because I can probably have fun on any of these systems. Oh, and not forget PC gamers they can enjoy superior online and user mods in everything ranging from beautiful games (Crysis) to casual games (Sims 2) to Half-Life, and Unreal.
