Anybody buy Nier today?

Anybody get this game today? I was at Wal-Mart and saw it on the shelf. I was tempted to get it but I want to read some reviews on it first. Looks interesting though. So if anybody has it,could you inform me on how it is so far?

You should at least be seeing some coverage. Right now it seems like they didn't send out any review copies, which is a bit shady.

I maybe should have specified that no US sites were talking about it. They don't seem to have sent out any copies to US publications, or at least not before today.

I forgot it was being released today, but I'll wait and see what the verdict is from the gaming community before I make a purchase.

I've been tracking this for awhile. I would buy it if I had the cash, but by the time I do, RDR & Alan Wake will be here, so I might have to wait for it to become cheaper.

I picked it up along with SSF4, had no clue what it was about lol. Gameplay so far is pretty simple yet entertaining, but I must say the music in the game so far is fantastic. Also, I really can't stand the main character design lol.

Today, no ? I was busy getting my chat on in Biology with the ladies.

I'll buy it when it sees a price drop. Apparently it will be 45 bucks at K-mart this week, but I don't think that's low enough for me to warrant a purchase.

I won't get it yet. It looks alright so I'll probably get it later on.

I really wanted to get the ps3 young version then this old western guy... will wait then this game drop to about 20 bucks.. I did buy FF13 instead and sf4 today.

The only major difference I know is the age of the protagonist and the damsel-in-distress he is rescuing. In the Xbox 360 version, Nier is a middle-age man trying to rescue his daughter. In the PS3 version, he is a young man trying to rescue his younger sister.

I actually glanced at Metacritic and saw that there were a few reviews out after I first replied, I don't usually peruse Eurogamer or IGN UK/AU, much less any of the smaller sites listed, which is why I hadn't seen any coverage (reviews or otherwise) until now.

Well, there was a new video a few days ago on Gametrailers. The game looks pretty ugly but interesting nonetheless. But nothing I would buy full priced.nethernova

I have it, and it is an excellent game. The graphics may not be the best, but the game has substance, great characters, a haunting and dreary atmosphere and one of the best soundtracks I can recall. Loving it, just like I knew I would. Very outside of the box game.

It has so many genres mixed in it is almost crazy, and intentionally so. It is like a Zeldaesque action RPG with 3D bullet hell and text adventure mixed in. It goes from 3d to 2d to isometric at various points as well. In this respect, I really do not think that there is much out there like it. However, in terms of atmosphere and tone, it is very Drakengard-like in that it is a dark game. No surprise, this is the spiritual successor to the series, after all.

I have not done any farming yet, so I cannot comment. I just started playing last night and I am about 4 hours in.

Well I bought the game and honestly don't regret it at all, excellent game, very fun, love the story, just so great, music is just tip of the iceberg, the fishing, while a PITA at first gets really fun to do, the farming, very simple and takes some time between watering to harvest especially if you don't fertilize the ground before planting.

Like a previous poster said, yes it has some bullet hell kind of shootem up gameplay to some bosses/monsters which works surprisingly well, graphics are good, not super awesome but it really works and still looks good, major gameplay>graphics kind of game.
