Another Batman game in the works?

While the Batman: Arkham franchise has gone back to Rocksteady Studios, looks like the cogs are spinning at Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Games Montréal, in the form of a new game for PS4 and Xbox one, as explicitly revealed by the resume of Audio Designer Dustin Reid.

Mentions of an unannounced AAA game are also present in several profiles of other Warner Bros. Games Montréal developers, and Batman: Arkham Origins Lead Game Designer Pierre-Luc Foisy mentions:

Now working on a new AAA project that is just starting. Currently lead the Design team and help starting some prototypes.

If the Linkedin profiles are any indication, it seems that Warner Bros. Games Montréal has placed a large percentage of the staff of Batman: Arkham Origins at work on this new game, even if nothing else is known about it.

Will it be another Batman or superhero game, or maybe something entirely different? Rumors about a Suicide Squad game have been floating around, but for the moment it’s too early too say. We’ll keep our feelers out and we’ll let you know as soon as we do.

That would be awesome, would help differentiate them from the Arkham series too.

As long as WB is committed to making Batman games good, more Batman isn't in itself bad news.

I resonate with the Batman Beyond love. Definite potential in that universe for a videogame version (albeit Terry McGinnis needs a better backstory).

Those people got the Arkham code, and basically copy and pasted the mechanics. But they had no understanding of the finer nuance of what makes these games work from a pacing and encounter design standpoint. So many of the levels in Arkham Origins just feel fucking lazy. Like all they did was put dudes in a group, huddled randomly in spots, and you just walk in and beat up dudes. I've barely been doing any of the stealth stuff, because most of the time I'm just tasked to come in and kick ass. Which again is not boring, because Batman's combat is still fun enough in its simplicity.

But it's not good enough to carry awkward pacing the way a God Hand or a Devil May Cry can. Because of its simplicity, the pacing matters that much more, and Origins just feels rote after awhile. On the flip side these people make better boss fights than anything I was getting in Arkham Asylum/Arkham City (sans Mr. Freeze who is still probably the best this series had to offer, which isn't saying much), but that's not saying a lot. They are closer to being solid, than straight up good, but that's still an improvement. Regardless I hope their second game is not an Arkham game.

I would like them to link Origins and Asylum in the next game, if it is indeed a Batman game. Then Rocksteady could have a break developing a new game in the meantime

Origins was a great game. Much closer to the comics. Much more interesting Batman.

Ugh not again. I haven't played Arkham Origins yet, but I think I'll start playing it tomorrow, I'm expecting the worst.

Why would these guys make another one if the last one was so bad?

How about they bring back Spawn.

I'd like to see them expand on the dc universe and not just focus on batman. There are so many characters in the DC roster worth digging into. Cassandra kain Batgirl, wonder woman, superman, green lantern, red lanterns, aquaman, and of course, animal man. Just make the games connect within the universe and people will get interested.

Now somebody give me a marvel game with arkham production values.

Marvel movies destroy DC, but games You would think someone over at marvel would look at a batman game and go like damn! that is the sweet spot for these types of games LETS DO IT

Origins had the best story in the Arkham series but my main gripes with it was the horrible lip synching, the fact that the game is still buggy (the devs said that they'd focus on the DLC and not on fixing the game) and because it slightly retcons some stuff.

That said, Batman Beyond would be an excellent choice. Just think - Rocksteady is making a Batman game where you can drive the batmobile. WB could do something awesome like having Terry fly in a Batman Beyond game. My only hope is that they take their sweet time in making the game and learning from their past mistakes with Origins.

Batman: Arkham Beyond....I would be OK with that....

They are milking the crap out of it until it become stale ala assassins creed.

im only going to play the ones made by rocksteady, i dont want to get burned out on the franchise

If they're gonna start leapfrogging Batman games does that mean we're going to get annual Batman games like AC series? I sure hope not, two years between games is enough for me. I worry if they go a annual release leapfrog route then I worry the games may become rushed to stay on the annual deadline, plus maybe people will grow tired of it quickly, especially if the quality takes a hit.

Nope, because Rocksteady is done after this game and WB only have one other studio. It's not likely. It takes time and a good studio. And they only have one of those left afte this

I'm sure it is Batman and I'm sure it's Arkham connected. Until they stop selling WB will beat that drum to death.

There are plenty of DC franchises that could receive some love.
