...Diablo 3.

I really wanted to give this game a fair chance with a totally open minded and I wanted to love it. However, as lots of people on battlenet over the years rightly summarized: it has a feel of a tedious F2P MMO only dressed in an AAA game coating. Never before have I felt so tired and literally fallen asleep playing a game before.

This game makes your brain switch off completely.

For me the biggest problem is the automatization of fundamental game mechanics and also the fact that the game features vast open spaces that are literally wasted on waves on encountering dentical enemies over and over again. Game like Diablo requires thousands of small confined spaces with extremely varied environments to be interesting. It is completely unengaging. Beautiful cutscenes (albeit heavily compressed) are wasted within-the-game on telling a story that makes Call of Duty look like a Orson Welles movie in comparison!

Despite the fact that each experience level gives you different rune modfication to existing abilities or gives you new passive buffs and it makes you rotate them AT LEAST UP TILL A CERTAIN POINT, I'd have still preferred skill trees.

I'm afraid I won't even complete the game. I'm fed up with giving it another chances yet ending up falling asleep and wasting my precious free time instead of playing something that is, actually, ENJOYABLE.

I think Diablo is officially dead. Blizzard is dead to me. No amount of updates could've fixed Diablo III.

I loved Diablo 1, beat it around 50 times, I beat Diablo 2 only twice but I still liked it, but a lot less, but Diablo III is a nail in the coffin.

I think it mirrors a lot of awful current trends in gaming.

--

Can you think of a more uninspired and uninvolving game this gen? Technically it's from last-gen but it was re-released this gen, so...

I've played two mind numbingly boring games recently, one was The Starship Damrey on 3DS, which I was disappointed in because I usually like that sort of atmosphere, and The Wind Waker, which is offensively boring and constantly tries to outdo itself in how boring it can be. Luckily the last hour is alright, but what a waste of an art style.

I liked Diablo 3 yeah it was a bit mindless but a good way to unwind. A game I am really having big problems getting into is Watchdogs. The UI is a mess and the whole world looks really bland. I can't bring myself to do anything in the game. I keep loading it up thinking okay I'm really going to give it a go this time then losing the will to live when it gets to the part he can do stuff on his own lol.

I will keep trying though, I am determined, or maybe just stupid.

It's uncanny how much of that applies to Minecraft, which is my vote for the most mind-numbingly boring game.

It'll probably play like a Platinum Games game to me, considering I like musou games. I'm just immune to it.

True. I was mad hyped for the game but it turned out to be a massive disappointment and I lost faith in Blizzard. It's one of the few games that have caused me to just space out when playing it.

This game needs to be played with friends, you spend a day with friends searching loot and doing greater rifts while talking bs and the game is good, alone is a bore fest.

Although I haven't played Diablo 3, most of my experience with those kinds of top down RPGs did eventually become very boring. I enjoyed Diablo 2, Torchlight (1 and 2) and Path of Exile... for about 20-30 hours. Beyond that point, for some reason I lose all interest and just drop them, still haven't finished any of these.

Yeah I can see it being dull unless you have friends to play with. Most games can be fun if the right group can participate together. I mean I had fun playing Kane and Lynch 2 because I got together with a friend to play through the whole game on the hardest available difficulty.

My vote for personal mind numbingly boring game goes to Uncharted 2. The gameplay is incredibly slow paced and it's broken up by even slower paced story focused moments. It's a drag from start to finish. Definitely not for me.

Diablo 3 is ok, but it does not hold a candle to the previous games. Loot 2.0 didn't fix anything.

I've played it through like a dozen times over a few characters. The expansion was poor and badly written.

Agreed.

To each his own TC, game is simply not your cup of tea and that's cool. Me on the other hand, I love it. I am a Diablo nut though, and was heavily addicted to Diablo2 during my PC gaming days. Not here to convince anyone of liking the game, simply to offer a different perspective.

There are numerous reasons why I like it, the obvious coming from what a loot-based dungeon crawler can offer. I like the enemy designs, the character designs(Crusader and Monk are my favorites now, getting close to level 70 with my Barb....I like melee-based characters basically), and really enjoy the co-op aspect of the game. I also really like the 3 rd person person camera view of the game.

Torment difficulties are where things get more interesting in my opinion. Although the game is not one that requires much thought overall, I find myself constantly analysing different builds when I play. The fun for me comes from trying out different specialized builds at the harder difficulties. There is a ton of fine-tuning you can do with builds, and some even require specific gear to work properly. Many of the skills are complementary, and when you play co-op you have your buddies's skills that come into play and compliment yours sometimes as well. Talking about it makes me want to play it now.

Any game that starts with a mandatory tutorial is boring. Any game with forced pop ups or just way point following. Skyrim is the epitome of this, you aren't even paying attention to the game, half the time is spent staring at a little directional indicator, fun!

Dragons Dogma, Dark Souls good

Skyrim, DC moba, most f2p MMOs bad

Really? That surprises me a bit, since I generally find myself agreeing with you on most games.

I started D3 on PC but stopped after hitting lvl cap on my Monk, due to issues with the old game that have been discussed to death. A couple friends talked me into buying the console version when the expansion released and I enjoyed it quite a bit, but other games pulled me away after a few weeks. About two weeks ago we started back up just to finish our characters to 70... and we've been playing almost every night since (now around paragon 170).

I will say this: it's a game that really shines with friends (local and online), and the real game begins after lvl 70. Yes the story is bad bad. Yes, it's a shut your brain down game (thiough I also count that as a benefit). But I like it a lot. Rumors are that a new xpac is in the works and if so I'll grab it day one.

As grindy as they can get, I'd still put them as more skillful than most console titles considering audiences such games (The Order, MGS, Ryse, CoD, Uncharted, etc.) strive for. Several MMO's actually have a higher skill cap and bigger competitive scene than any console game save for a handful of fighters (and even that is arguable).

BUT, if you're only talking PC standards and not consoles...then yeah you're pretty spot on.
