Amazon UK lists PS5 at 599

Do note it is NOT an official listing as it had a 1TB and 2TB model when Cerny confirmed a 825GB model so a 1TB existing is very unlikely.

@fedor: Could also mean $599 USD assuming it's true. Oftentimes UK and US prices are identical except the pound is worth a lot more.

I still stand firm on $499.

I don't think $599 would be anywhere near as big of a deal as it was back in 06. Thing is, the system needs to be a beast. PS5 isn't one.

It depends on supply and demand. We already know there will be a slight shortage of PS5's in 2021. It could easily end up staying the same price but with some nice bundle deals on BF.

I don't get excited by Amazon listings as anybody can create them since they allow third parties to create product pages. Yet these things keep making news for whatever reason.

I'll assume these details have been taken from the reveal that is happening shortly. It is still cheaper than a equivalent PC build, how cheap are console gamers these days?

My top out has been $500 for the most part. If they have a good showing, I'm willing to do $550. If they have an incredible showing, I'm willing to do $600.

I've been saving for a few months and have $600 set aside so far. PS5 will also be the first system I buy that I won't buy a second controller for automatically since PS2. So that saves me $65+.

It can't be that much. Hell, I think consoles at $500 bucks are already gonna be a struggle.

I just find it strange that some claim it has to be a beast for that price, they must be unemployed or something. The price is higher than usual, but the specs are still way within what I would call value for money and playstation has always had games. Although, probably not worth buying until a year or two anyway until the library builds up.

I'm not buying a console for more than £350... EVER. They're high. Spending all that just to game. Then there's all the subscription fees, expensive games, season passes and dlc. Smh

Games aren't anymore expensive, that no longer exists. From what I play anyway, quite often see PC equivalents selling higher.

That is pretty damn steep for a console.

I got a deal on a used PS4 for just under 200 dollars so I don't feel like I have anything to regret, but I would not pay more than 400 for it. I certainly won't pay more than 400 for a PS5.

It is, but I think once you get past whatever "max price" people set for themselves that makes a console a good deal, it doesn't really matter "how much cheaper".

It's just not worth it at a certain price, and you might as well go all-in on a PC than spend a smaller-but-still-large sum on a console.

Speaking from my own perspective, of course.

@Random_Matt: yeah but a PC let's you do whatever you want. I'll drop a G for that, but if I'm limited to games, I'm only down to pay a third of what I would for a PC. Suddenly the console has lost value imo.

I mean let's say a PC and a console used the same i7 and they were sold separately from the machine. One i7 limits you to gaming. Would you pay the same about for the PC version that let's you do what you want?

Everyone has to make their choice, but when console gamers boast about getting similar hardware for less, they conveniently leave out the value a PC gives you in freedom.

If Playstation has a solid lineup I'll pick one up. If not, I'll wait.

Even at $599 from a tech standpoint that would be an outstanding deal. Systems are not going to be $400 forever.

They'd be mad to list it at over 600 USD. IMO 500 is the max it will sell well at. But we shall see... they could go for a PS3 pricing model and try to use dropping manufacturing costs to lower the asking price in the coming year...

Anything over $599 from the U.S dollars will be a financial failure! Lets see how MS can really go with the price its packing with XSX.

Imagine releasing a $600 console during a depression.

Even if XSX is 599.00 it won't hurt them as much as Sony just because Microsoft is making games work on both generation consoles and Smart delivery. But for Sony if you want to play that PS5 exclusive then you gotta fork it up.

PS1: $199 in 1994

PS2: $299 in 2000

PS3 $599 in 2006 (flopped)

PS4: $399 in 2013.

PS5? Has to be $499 in 2020.

PS6 in 2027 will be $599 which with inflation compared to 2006 would be much cheaper and more in line with a $400 PS4 or $500 PS5.

@lifelessablaze:I still want Sony to make a premium console at launch. Give me a $1000 PS5 Pro that has 1.5TB of the magical SSD and 21 Tflops instead of 10.52 / 825.

Make base PS5 run in 1440p/30.

PS5 Pro runs 4K/30 or 3K/60

To be honest I would be waiting for HZD 2, perhaps send them both back within the 30 day period. Such a great return policy to abuse.

way does every one think the ps5 can only run at 1440p/30 fps. because of a 6 month made tech demo that ran on an engine that is not done yet and they had to change the code for it to run on there fast i/o.
