And this is what it introduces: two new difficulty settings. I think it's great they did it - might give me an incentive to replay it someday. The details are below:

Nightmare - for those with a strong disposition and the urge to take their Alien: Isolation experience to the next level:

Broken Motion Tracker - a distorted signal with unreliable information

Reduced resources

Authentic flamethrower - fuel is rare to find and burns faster

Map systems are offline and hack systems are harder

Synthetics and survivors are more hostile

Alien AI has been upgraded to be more aggressive, adapting faster and affording no second chances to anyone

No HUD and not possible to update your map from terminals.

Novice - for those wanting a bit more breathing space:

More resources to be found, increasing survival chances

Synthetics and fellow survivors are less aggressive and easier to survive

Alien is less menacing, less aggressive and easier to distract

I kinda wish this was a film. I still can't take horror games while I'm semi-fine with horror films as long as it doesn't have jump scares, like original Alien.

Different settings doesn't really "wow" me, but hey to those who do love harder/easier settings they got a pretty good deal.

All I want is a "save anywhere" feature. Anything else, I don't care about.

If anybody completes a no death play through on Nightmare, they should get a wonderful prize... like a monument.

If my experience with AI has taught me anything, its that they make the AI harder by making it simpler.... Basicly now you can just expect The Alien to know exactly where you are every 60 seconds regardless of what you do or where you are.

Good stuff, more incentives for replayability is always good....have not finished the game yet but I love it, one of the most underrated games this year

I won't lie. If this novice update was available when the game first released, I would've picked it. Even easy was annoying with the alien stealth tactics at the last half of the game. Still, the atmosphere kept me going. Great ending, too.

Have beaten and sold it since.
