Adventure Game "Call of the Sea" releases tomorrow on Game Pass (Sorry Cows for now)

Cyber-punk schmyber-punk! This is an ode to the adventure games of old!

For those of you who are fond of the Myst-style adventure games (exploring the world and solving puzzles in first person), Call of the Sea releases tomorrow on Game Pass. For those on the fence, download it on Game Pass and try it out for free! You just may love it.

Nobody talks about this style of adventure game anymore, but I feel they have a genuinely addictive gameplay loop. They're kinda like a Metroid game except instead of new abilities unlocking areas, it's your puzzle solving that does the trick. However these puzzles weren't random like your pixel-hunting LucasArts games of old. No, no! The solutions to these puzzles were based off of your knowledge of the game world. Which means looking for clues and basking yourself in a world and a culture. This ties it back to my Metroid comparison.

The "sorry cows" was put in the title to make it extra System Wars related, though I am sure it will make it to Sony platforms at some point. :P

Is this a hype thread? No. But if it were, I would say GS will give it an 8.

Its on my list of games to play. I still have to finish Immortals Fenyx Rising, then I will be attempting

Never cared for that genre much, but hopefully it's a good game for those who do like adventure games!

Another xbox gamepass game nobody cares about launching against one of the biggest releases of all time...yeah nice one microsoft

I love this type of game 😁! I’m actually playing a first person adventure game (Soul Axiom) atm. This one looks better though.

I'm enjoying it so far.The art direction is gorgeous.

Game pass games are not free. Unless you know how to get it for free op. If you do know how to get game pass for free let me know. Just asking for a friend.

This isn't a walking sim. You actually need to use your brain and solve puzzles. So...

Man, if this were PlayStation exclusive you would be saying something like "See, Sony gives the players options. This isn't my cup of tea but it's better than Xbox just crapping out more Gears and Halo. Lol Phil Spencer has AIDS! hahahaah"

ZOMG, loved what I've seen of the game. Can't hardly wait to give this a whirl. :D

giving it a try since it's on Game Pass and really enjoying it so far.. beautiful art style, great voice acting, and thoughtful puzzles.. not my typical kind of game but a welcome change-up..

Well you should. When MS did their big games reveal earlier this year I posted at that time that this game is one that really caught my eye. Stating at that time it reminded me, visually only, of Sea of Thieves, which me loves those visuals.

Also, there's really not that many new adventure games of this type so that's another plus.

All in honesty because I know with my usual SW persona, it's likely fairly hard to take me serious most of the time but ever now and then I'll let the real me out. lolol :P

Sorry, dragon quest XI sucked, one of most repetitive games I've played. Not sure how I completed it.

Another great Xbox exclusive.

Surprisingly better than I was expecting. Graphically it is stunning for an indie game, wish maybe there'd be some HDR support though it really pops without it.

As far as plot goes I wasn't sure what to expect. Definitely picked up on Lovecraft inspiration early on and the rest got predictable as a result. Still enjoyable story with good puzzle challenge. Nice bite size game and being included in Game Pass makes it easily available at no big sacrifice.
