Not nearly the same as a new game... But cool I guess.

This is in my personal top 20 best games I've ever played, I've poured about 200 hours into it on the DS. But, it really needs to be released on the 3DS or the Switch VC instead to get more exposure.

Yeah, overall I'd prefer to have a new game in the series since it feels like forever since Days of Ruin came out and I need something else besides Dual Strike.

I haven't heard of them doing anything new in years.

Lol, well Intelligent Systems gave us Color Splash recently...but, we'll just ignore that game ever existed. On the Advance Wars side of things though, I agree, it's one of the best series that Nintendo decided to kill off for no apparent reason.

@bowserjr123: Dont forget Fire Emblem Fates. Also Nintendo didnt kill it off, they just gave it a break, the last game sold like shat on the DS, you know, that system that had an install base of 150 million + yet Advance Wars struggled to sale over 500K copies worldwide.

Yeah, it dont matter how awesome Advance Wars is to us, if it might not make dollars, it might not make cents. But if were being optimistic, Nintendo releasing this might mean Intelligent Studios is giving Switch a nice launch title.

I'm now reminded that I still haven't bothered to beat the final mission in the first Advance Wars game...

Advance Wars is a great series that is strategic and quite deep.

That rules out the majority of gamers, so it was never going to sell well.

I loved playing this game back when it first released. My cousins and I would do multiplayer for hours on end.

I wish Intelligent Systems would make competent multiplayer for Fire Emblem as well. Not that difficult to clone the AW multiplayer and use FE classes instead of tanks and anti-airs.

Love this game and this franchise. Much prefer its use of combined arms over Fire Emblem RPG units. I'm more big on the Days of Ruin for being a tactics game that has you constantly thinking 3 or so turns ahead instead of the immediate turn after. It also had tough as nails AI that you have to think around otherwise enjoy a war of attrition. But I like that the Dual Strike mechanic being this uhhh trump card and momentum swing that you have to utilize at the right moment. The multiple front Air/Land battles were cool too.

Wish they would go for another installment of this with modern touches. As someone here mentioned, it had multiplayer. Days of Ruin also had a map editor (how cool would it be if you can share them online).

Yeah exactly...sales numbers be damned, I'd die for another entry on the Switch. I'd also love another Wario Land, F-Zero, and proper Metroid.

I got one of the Advance War games on Wii U via GBA VC, still need to play more of that, but I've enjoyed what I've played. Much more appropriate system to make BC games on given there's no complication with the dual screen. Is there an option on Wii U to direct swap the two screens for DS games? On Wii U games typically hitting the (-) button swapped screens so one could do all the gaming on the GamePad; is there anything like that?

but can screens be switched on the fly like they can for Wii U games? I saw videos showing many different screen configurations but you need to go into the a settings menu and select new display options each time, I haven't heard anything about switching on the fly, on Wii U games you just pressed (-) button

@lamprey263: I'm not sure about switching between the two modes, but I'm sure you can toggle the screens in one of the modes.

Definitely one of my all-time favorite games. Reminds me how tragic it is they never put out a 3DS game. The series is due for a modern refresh -- a competent online mode could really do wonders for the franchise.

When you think about what Intelligent Systems was doing from the early to mid 2000's with Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, and Advance Wars, it really is sad to see what they're doing now :(

Damn, watch out Nintendo. Is this their "trickle" strategy? Good that they release it now to keep the U alive and interest going.

Amazing game. I'm finishing up days of ruin. I hope Nintendo give this series another shot like they did with fire emblem awakening.
