Article by PC Gamer.

The Elder Scrolls VI: Redfall?

To sum it up, last year, Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda, filed a trademark for "Redfall." This has now been opposed by a sci-fi author Jay Falconer. Apparent, Mr. Falconer is trying to work out a licensing deal with Zenimax, but has not received a response to far.

I know many of you are soured on Bethesda after Fallout 76, but if TES VI is still single-player focused and still moddable, I'm still going to buy it.

Anyway. Redfall? Certainly sounds Redguard related. I guess we're going back to Hammerfell.

Bethesda needs a new Engine at this point, I don't see a reason making The Elder Scrolls 6 without a new Engine.

This could just be another expansion for Elder Scrolls Online.

My hype for the next elder scrolls tanked after what Bethesda's been pulling lately.

If it's SP with no microtransactions that actually affect gameplay I'm buying. If it's Skyrim, just bigger and better then I'm all in.

I'm actually holding off on anything Bethesda related after the massive disaster that was Fallout 76 and still continues to be a dumpster fire...

I ask the same question to Star citizen. I'm in my early 30's, will I live to 50 before SC release?

Last E3 they said starfield will be out a long time from now. They said Elder Scrolls will be out even longer from then. This gives me lil hope of seeing it within the next 8 years at least.

I dont think I will even make it to see the revival of Fallout.

76 has been improved for sure but I understand the reservations.... but I would not worry about Elder Scrolls. That is BGS baby and gets treated with a lot more care than the Fallout series. 76 was made by the Austin Office. I expect the original Maryland team to handle both Starfield and ES, and they will ship with a ton of polish.

Hammerfell isn't the location I was hoping for.

They're using the Morrowind engine yet again, meaning it will be ugly, have really bad animations and will be riddled with bugs.

And their latest game is Fallout 76. Hype level for ES6 is around 0.

Redfall is actually pretty decent dystopian sci-fi series.

That's a very pessimistic estimate. I remember Todd Howard saying in an interview that they're still considering whether Starfield will be out this gen or next gen. They've also been working on it for a number of years already so I expect it to come out in the next two years. ES6 will probably release around 4 years give or take after Starfield. So I doubt we'll get our hands on it after 2025, which is in 6 years.

I'm not too crazy about Hammerfell's desert setting to be honest. Some rumors also mention High Rock, which is more of a middle ground environment. It's a small province comparably so they might even combine those two. I'd be up for that.

Bethesda doesn't know what polish is.

Me neither. I was actually hoping for an Elsweyr + Valenwood combo - nice desert/jungle contrast, or even Summerset Isle. Still up in the air at this point, though.

Bethesda are gonna bleed that Gamebryo engine dry no matter how much it creaks and sputters. Bewilders the Hell out of me, especially since they have master engine makers in id Software in their stable.

i was really hoping that f76 would be the wake up call they needed and they won't ever try and push out poorly designed and unoptimised games again.

rdr2 and hzd have set the presentation bar extremely high for what open world games in 2018 should look and feel like. it'd be near suicidal for bethesda if they don't react and continue obstinately down the path they've been treading this past few years

That depends on what you expect of a Star Citizen release. Chris has stated that they are going to be doing 3 monthly updates for the foreseeable future, meaning SC will never have a hard, traditional, release. The closest it will come is when they go full persistence, probably 2021 or 2022 as after that point there will be no more resetting and the game will only continue to grow.

Squadron 42 Episodes 1,2 and 3 (3 complete games, not one broken into 3 parts) will have traditional hard releases, approximately 1 year apart. Part 1 will likely be out late 2020 or early 2021.
