Poll A new Metal Gear Solid or a new Splinter Cell - which one do you want to see most? (57 votes)

Metal Gear Solid 44%
Splinter Cell 56%

We haven’t seen a new iteration from these games in a long time. MGS V came out in 2015 and Splinter Cell 2013. Pretty sad actually. But hopefully, they will eventually return. Though it’s hard to imagine what a Metal Gear Solid would be without Kojima. Don’t know if anyone can write like him or have his wacky ideas or design chops lol With that said, I’d be more interested to see a new Splinter Cell. Hopefully a revival of sorts. How about you, SW?

Right now, a good and tight Splinter Cell. Still, not holding out hope for the remake.

I like both but after MG3 I drifted away from the Metal Gear franchise.

Kind of always solidly liked Splinter Cell barring Conviction. Actually amazed at just how unfucked up Ubisoft has made it considering, it's Ubisoft.

So yea, more of a Splinter Cell fellow at this point, but I don't really trust Ubisoft so the upcoming release is "tepid" expectations.

If we're talking about Chaos Theory level of goodness, it trashes anything MGS.

Always considered MGS as an anime movie game with a realistic art direction to hide its animu roots, while the first three SC titles were proper stealth games, and still are the best stealth titles that i've played. And isn't this sad? It has been over 15 god damn years, and still nothing that is even close to choas theory when it comes to the stealth genre. Dunno, i find this to be pathetic af.

Always preferd SC than MGS, but both are great, i'm not the biggest fan of stealth games but i enjoy them when perfectly excuted, when stealth is not repetetive in an anoying way, i can enjoy that game, SC is an example.

I actually want them to continue Metal Gear, Kojima would rather do horror or Death Stranding.

A traditional splinter cell would be awesome... Something that puts the focus back on creating multiple possibilities through gameplay, gadgets and alternate routes/methods...

I'd love for a new splinter cell game. Nothing against mgs, but I mean the creator is gone and the last game had amazing gameplay and not much else.... Though that can be enough. Splinter cell has been dormant and if they brought stealth back I wouldn't complain.

I don't know. I feel like SC would be the most interesting for me. Something with a pretty straight forward story and not too hand holding. Regarding MG, honestly I have no patience for Kojima's writing and would rather have him trying weird shit out than going back to MG. I bet Kojima loves the smell of his own farts. I mean, who doesn't, but you know what I mean.

As long as any of the games has badass gameplay like Max Payne I'm fine. Throw some Barbie vibes and I'm sold.

Tough call tbh.

But..... a new MGS that ditches the mother base BS with a jungle setting would probably get my vote.

Given a dream scenario, where each new entry is up there with the best of their respective series? MGS. I love SC, but the systems rich stealth action sandbox of MGS keeps me playing. Get hundreds of hours out of a good MGS game.

Realistically though, way more faith in a new SC game being good. And even then that faith is little lol.

Yes, plz. I like MGSV a lot, but don't care for the bloat. Loved MGS3s setting, and the wide linear approach. Open enough to mess around, but still small enough to have each area feel hand crafted. In general I prefer the one epic mission, procure on site style of the older games. MGS series was always a cut above in attention to detail and interactivity. Reeling it back to smaller spaces again, would love to see what they could do with that now.

@SolidGame_basic: Though it’s hard to imagine what a Metal Gear Solid would be without Kojima. Don’t know if anyone can write like him or have his wacky ideas or design chops lol

The game design chops would be the big concern. Kojima had a ridiculous attention to detail and wasn't afraid to try radically new ideas in each game. Hit or miss, was always a real effort.

As for the wacky shit and writing, eh. I'd rather a new director not try to emulate Kojima. Would just feel weird and probably forced, rather they bring their own flavor to it.

Metal Gear, but both developers suck and Metal Gear should have stayed linear. Splinter Cell would be open world as well. Ubisoft said open worlds and multiplayer was their plan for all their future games a few years ago. I probably wouldn't play either. Look at what we get when Konami makes a halfhearted, cheap Metal Gear attempt: Metal Gear Survive. I didn't even play it.

Neither, Ubisoft would no doubt turn a next Splinter Cell into some kind of daily login grind with microtransactions, like everything else they make now. Only Ubisoft series that has any kind of pull that direction is The Division series, for me anyways.

I'm not a big MGS fan but regardless I don't see any new MGS project getting much interest with fans without Kojima. If one were to get worked out no doubt Sony would be heavily involved to add another exclusive to their line-up. No doubt that will get the base psyched but I would have no interest in whatever that would be.

That in mind, I’d still like to see a new SC designed around Chaos Theory’s take, but the Ubi of old is gone, destroyed by greed.

I would say Splinter Cell, but Ubisoft can no longer produce good games. It's better if they didn't even try.

Metal Gear Solid? Got too many games to play to put up with movie games.

I'll take neither, thank you.

I like a shitload of games. Just not the crappy stuff that you like.

And yes, I find most games to be shit. Which is a shame for me, but that's how it is. I want quality, and that means I have to pass on most games, movies, music and what have you.

Silent Hill? This is MGS vs Splinter Cell to see which franchise you want to see coming back first.

OT: I enjoy both games but, I'll go with Splinter Cell as I prefer to see something new, and without Kojima, I really don't want a new MGS.

Splinter Cell of course. It's not even a competition. But that's in an ideal world. In this world, neither. Ubisoft can't make a good game anymore.

as a bit of a stealth fanboy i thought mgsv had some of the most immersive pure stealth gameplay ive experienced, even more mechanically accomplished than another fave of mine in the dishonored games. if that can be bottled, refined and poured into a leaner, shorter and more focused setting, i'd take that all day long.

@Litchie said:

yeah i always try and stay optimistic about games but with the sc remake im 99.9% sure they will utterly ruin it. think my last bit of faith in them disappeared with watch dogs and that must be at least 10 years ago

Let's split the distance and get a new SOCOM instead. Honestly both are great.. I suppose I'd go with the one that has multiplayer.
