Brands are a powerful thing in the gaming world it would seem. Free online, BC, none of it resonating with the hardcore gamers. They want games they want big hitters. They want a name they can trust.

Microsoft even do huge big swingy things is just not making splash or even a ripple in the PS5 wake.

What big hitters is Sony delivering though? Ghost took 6 years to make and resounded in an underwhelming 83/100 because Sucker Punch are an untalented developer. TLOU2 turned people off with Neil Druckmann putting in a scene with 2 dudes smashing each other.

And honestly does anyone even pay for PS+? I mean what on Earth would you play aside COD and Destiny, both which are free to play now? Not like Sony could make a decent MP game to save their lives.

We won't even know until 2022 at the earliest if Microsoft's new studios have panned out. Halo Infinite looking like a dumpster fire doesn't instill much confidence.

Crysis 2 2011 looks better than doom2016 and doom eternal,that's how you know gaming is officially dead doom2016/doom eternal are nothing more than crysis 2 gameplay recycled, you had double jumping and climbing and even a ground pound in crysis 2 plus ''quick time event kills'' hell and even a cover system.

Hell crysis 2 atleast had a special direct 11 pc rendering mode plus a high res texture pack released for it over consoles, doom2016/eternal have no special rendering mode all you get is slightly better textures and shadows than console well and higher fps of course no actual high res texture packs released for it like crysis tho.

Doom2016/eternal are so last gen aka 10 years ago it's fucking insane man.

Going to throw some logic in here. A random online poll means nothing as people have found ways to vote more than once. Hell, people that shouldn't be voting or even what's left of their corpses are allowed to vote in American politics.

That said, brand names are stronger than ever. This gen seems to have been a catalyst for the Playstation and Xbox ecosystems. Whichever came out on top will stay on top given people being far less willing to switch due to being vested in their platform of choice. The push towards digital games really drove this.

Unless Sony pulls a Microsoft E3 2013, expect Playstation to be at minimum ahead of Microsoft during next gen and perhaps snow balling into the bigger platform from here on.

Charging or not charging for online isn't much of a gain for Microsoft. Definitely not as big a deal as it was during last gen. I still applaud them for doing it though.

The only thing that's gotten better is the advancement of graphics engines, but the things being built with those engines are shit the actual content being made is of shit quality.

Movie creating technology has gotten better, yet the quality has suffered.

You have better recording technology than ever before, but the quality has suffered aswell.
