[4K HDR] Forza Horizon 3: Xbox One X Full Developer Interview! 60fps possible

Xbox one X easily powerful enough to hand 60fps.

Choices made to improve graphics on top of 4k instead.

New Forza being developed using The X as the primary console.

4x MSAA still used on top of 4k

New development tools (which they had early access) really good

4k same settings as original = 25% spare GPU

Motion blur same as PC

Car detail a lot higher than original

Distance viewing better than original

Custom setup between ultra and high

Somethings higher than PC can get such as shadow resolution (4k)

Reflections much higher quality

Easy and quick transition

Still head room for future.

Please note this is not me saying any of this but a developer of the game.

If they could do 60fps they should have offered it really in my view.

I thought the game looked amazing on the original Xbox One however on the Xbox One X it looks absolutely gorgeous. Me likey. :)

It simply is the best racing game this gen (until FH4 hits) and the key word is "driving" as its not just a racing game, there is so much variety from driving in the big city to country roads, through swamps, pools of water etc, barn finds, drifting events, jumps, online cruising for up to 4 friends etc. Its just the complete driving game. If you like driving/racing games then its almost a crime not to own it.

FH3 is a great game no matter where you play it. I played a great deal of it on the S because of HDR. It’s amazing at 4K/60 on PC of course, but that’s just icing on the cake for this great game. That being said, getting this game at 60fps would have required a good deal of compromise. PR speak at its finest yet again.

Nice. The X is really stacking up. I'mma still stick to my new PC, plus upgrade this year, but for console players it's the shit.

This game is miles above any other racing game out on any system, a game fully deserving a 10/10 score, even the expansions are amazing.

Yeah hurt I get to play the game at 60fps/max settings lol. Instead of chasing 4K focus on things that actually impacts the gameplay. Now "maybe" we'll get a 60fps mode as if it this wasn't supposed to be a priority for a racing game lol.

@FLOPPAGE_50: Nah Bloodborne also suffered immensely from 30fps and awful frame pacing. The frame pacing combined with the dark environments, low frame rate and difficult combat made this game difficult to play at first. I had to stop after sessions of about 30 minutes because of the eye strain and headaches. I eventually got used to it but it’s still less than ideal. That’s why the 4K/30fps hunt annoys me. On PC I’ll drop the resolution to 1800p or less if it means a locked 60fps.

Different is, Horizon is only available on PS4 vs Forza Horizon 3 can be play both Xbox One & on PC and on PC, you'll enjoy 60fps.

Anyhow, my point is, when you said "No complaints here with the GOAT being 30fps" it's comments like this is what developers love to see. Developers will continue releasing poor framerate games as it is without trying to aim 60fps. By accepting 30fps, you also prove to Phil Spencer console gamers don't care about 60fps. That's all I'm saying. I'll let you think about that.

That's an odd thing to say because the vast majority of AAA games run at 30fps. Why pick on Forza Horizon 3 a game that is the only open world native 4k racing game with 4xMSAA? I can understand wanting a 60FPS option even at a lower res but to act as if supporting specifically this game is sending the wrong message is rather strange. Now if you keep the same stance for the upcoming Sony exclusives this year that are all going to sport 30fps then at least you will be consistent.

This thread started off as a positive awesome news for gamers who enjoy this series, and then some clown entered here to bitch about 30 fps and flex his PC.

What we are saying is why must you shit on this gens top racer over 30 fps when countless other AAA+ games also have 30 fps and get a free pass.

PC guys just don't get it, they like to call console gamers peasants and we're the reason devs don't give a shit and only create 30fps games. Then turn around buy a console and 30fps games for it, so in the end the only hypocrites here are them.

That is a good lie by that first dev/PR guy. If this game could run at 60fps on X1X, they would have the option available. I am sure the other devs who actually know what they are doing would cringe if they heard him say that the game could run at 60fps. Blatant lie. CPU bottleneck prevents it. FH3 is a great game, but still runs like shit on console. Never settle for 30fps if it can be avoided. PC Xbox Play Anywhere FTW!

Don't know if it's developer bs but anyway I wish MS started to give players the choice. With that said, the game looks glorious!
