43% of Elden Ring players havnt defeated the games first boss yet.

According to Steam Achievements only 57% have defeated the games first boss. This game was suppose to be the most accessible in the series, but seems even so, a massive amount of gamers arent progressing well even though the game has been out for so long. Weve seen many gamers rage quitting and expressing buyers remorse. But this isnt new to the series, experienced Souls fans are well aware of the Prepare to Die and Git Gud memes that come with the territory. And now im starting to see why its reviewing so low by fans,

its probably a bunch of newbies who cant get pass the first boss and are scoring the game a 0 or 1. But us Elden Ring fans shall prevail. How about you SW? How far have you gotten, have you beaten the game yet? Are you amoug the 0.8% that have achieved Elden Ring status?

I have defeated the first two bosses. Also defeated the Tree Sentinel, the 1st Dragon, and the Dark Knight (or whatever he is called) on the bridge by the dragon

Margit (68.2) is the first boss, not Godrick... You can easily put in 30 hours before you even start attempting Margit. Tell me you haven't played the game without telling me you haven't played the game.

its not really the "first boss," you can explore and do a ton of other bosses before facing Margit.

Margit is literally a glorified enemy.

Which is why you fight other Margits in the open world later on.

Maybe that is just FromSoft being incompetent/lazy. But yeah I agree Margit would have been a better criteria.

The first main boss is Margit, and there is a lot you can do before reaching him in Stormveil Castle.

And what is this supposed to mean? I am almost 90h in and Godric is the last main boss that i killed. Its an open world game, not everyone wants to rush through the story. When will you kill the first boss, mesome? Nvm forgot you will never be able to play a superior BOTW.

Godrick isn't the first boss, it's impossible to get to him without beating Margit. Pretending Margit isn't a boss to try and shift the goalpost is fucking stupid and objectively wrong. I'd also point out the article says the number is 64% on playstation.

Also, there are many bosses you can fight and beat before that. And depending on the route you take you can actually skip both and still progress.

Margit is not a major boss, but he is a boss and he must be defeated to advance the story. Godrick is the first of the major bosses which are identified by the fact that they possess a Great Rune.

To a considerable degree it is a distinction without a difference so I understand the confusion.

So far I have killed both Margit and Godrick. Both of them relatively easily. Meanwhile I have been smoked by many other things that I feel were way harder. This is at least partially driven by your build which makes a huge difference on the threat level from specific bosses or creatures and also whether you can summon support.

She Def was a rude awakening for my first time ever playing a souls game. So I roamed around and leveled up and came back later with Margits shackle, summoned my boy Roger and we just beat her down pretty bad along with skeleton summons(found by beating some dude rowing in a boat, lol). Game rules

I think most if the players still enjoying the free roaming of this game. Personally i havent beat the first story boss as i havent explored that area yet but havent had too much hard time fighting all the boss ive encountered.

I spent a lot of time exploring before defeating Margit and then Godrick later on. Still haven‘t even faced the next major boss after Godrick and I have acquired a ton more time into this game. Been just exploring anywhere and everywhere and doing a bunch of other side stuff. This game is massive.

I already beat Margit, but Godrick still kicks my ass... lol. I'm slow playing while also playing about 20 other games, so I'll get there eventually.

This throws more gas on the fire that is Elden Ring (and the Souls series as a whole) being overrated.

Game journos are notorious for sucking at games, and clearly most of them slapped a ten on it to please the higher ups at their media outlets, who are paid by publishers to shill and try to sell the "next big thing".

Same thing happened with Deathloop and Halo Finite. I just wish they were held to a higher standard, but guess people are willing to settle for OK games being labeled "amazing" and pretending like they're up their with the other goats.

The word 'first' is a little misleading in this case.

You have access to a lot of the open world, side dungeons with bosses, other more different bosses that roam around. You can easily fight 30-40 bosses before you ever step foot into the area with the 'first' boss.

was struggling when i first came up against margit early doors, my mate asked me where i was up to and i said i'm up to margaret, slip of the tongue, but the next time i tried i beat her quite easily. coincidence? not for me to say

@Miyomatic: Thr industry is all about trends. Reviews are generally useless because they have no standards and is written almost entirely subjectively. Many games are given more praise than they deserve and the trend is not going to change.
