If the rumours are true and intel is looking at 18+ IPC boost and they hit 10 cores on 20nm with their next chips then I think I'll stick with Intel unless AMD release something even better than that.

That rumor was bullshit, just like the one on Ryzen claiming 3700X to be 12core CPU at $329 and 3850X 16core at $499 (with 5GHz boost). Now, the same site is spreading nonsese of Intel releasing a 10core 10900 at 5.2GHz boost for $499 and a 10core 10800 at 5GHz boost (65W TDP) for $409, lol.

But the official slides show that the new "comet lake" will still be 14nm, release Q1/Q2 2020, be on a new socked without PCI-e 4.0 (this might be another single gen chipset, classic Intel) and the 10core CPU will be 125W TDP, and you can bet your ass it wont be $499.

Intel Comet Lake is yet another incremental upgrade with yet another new motherboard requirement from Intel.

I'm waiting for 16C/32T Zen 2 AM4 or next year's Zen 3 AM4.

I'm still waiting for Intel's LGA2066 CPUs would be price competitive against AMD's Zen 2 with 12 and 16 CPU cores.

I plan to switch to AM4 socket infrastructure to reduce the amount of motherboards to be thrown in the bin.
