Wow thats a much better layed out argument than most the diveling of cows.Tasman_basicThanks tasman, I appreciate it.
Playstation 3 HD Cables? Not sure how much they are, but I know they aren't given with the system. Unless that changed.NagidarMeh I decided not to include them because you can get 'em for like $10 online.
[QUOTE="MoldOnHold"]Ah well IMHO I don't see anything major happening anytime soon. But hey I can always be wrong. Thanks for posting.
XBOX 360
Premium system ($400) + 4 years Xbox Live (assuming that's how long the 360 lasts....$200) = $600
Just one note mate! If 360 lasts only for 4 years (as xbox did) then it sucks! IMHO the console life cycle should not shrink.
PLAYSTATION 3
Premium system ($600) + Decent Bluetooth headset ($50, better ones are at $100) = $650
Ok, I got some 'splaining to do. Basically, I'm sick of all the cows using the price of the HD-DVD drive to justify the price of the PS3. Bottom line, it has nothing to do with games.
We don't know this for sure yet. Let's just speculate for now!
However, in this generation, online play is major. Practically every 360 game has Live and Sony will soon follow suit with PSN.

Let me start by saying that I like (and am getting) both consoles. I'm just making a point I found interesting.

Cows also complain about how expensive Live is. That's just stupid. It's about $1 a week for a year. Sounds good to me. And even AFTER that, the PS3 is a more expensive ordeal if you want full online play. Sure you could say headsets aren't necessary, but the fact of the matter is, it's slowly becoming a norm especially for shooters and such. Think how much more fun Resistance would be if everyone had headsets.
And if you're REALLY against headsets, I invite you to chop off the $50 and look at the prices. It's the same.
So, thoughts? Comments? Death threats? Let me have 'em!

I agree, I also own both. One thing ALOT of people don't get that the majority of consumers don't have high speed. So the millions of potential buyers might not ever go online and thus no live and thus the only additional cost would be the games and controllers. Remember, the majority of internet users are dial up not high speed and would not be able to go online with the ps3 or the 360.
Why do you only count it for 4 years? Because it is less then PS3's price that way. News flash, Consoles usually last 5-6 years. Bias.jechtshot78I didn't count 2006. Geez.

Actually, I have said numerous times onm this forum, 360 may be my favourite console, but PS3 is BY FAR the best value of the 3 when you take all factors into consideration. For example, a Blu-Ray player may not be REQUIRED, but it's still a good feature. In Australian dollars to get the Xbox 360 up to the feature set of the PS3 you'd have to spend WAY more than just paying for the PS3 alone. PS3 = $999 Xbox 360 = $599 (there has been a price drop) plus $169 for WiFi, plus $249 for HD-DVD, at least $200 for new hard drive when it arrives, and you can forget a card reader.nickbakopoulos
Do you think the MAJORITY of the 360 owners will actually buy those add ons? I don't think so.

No you just self owned fool. He's saying he is sick of cows saying the 360 needs the HD-DVD drive and that makes it the same price as a PS3. Are you a total ****ing moron or just tired?"Basically, I'm sick of all the cows using the price of the HD-DVD drive to justify the price of the PS3"

And i am sick of those using Live to up 360 price, when demos are free, and half 360 owners do NOT play online, so it is 300-400$ for them, when PS3 is ...500-600$, now THAT is the real deal

Unless that changed.MoldOnHoldMeh I decided not to include them because you can get 'em for like $10 online. If you're going to shop around online for HD cables you might as well shop around for LIVE! subscriptions as well. I'm pretty sure you can get a Gold Membership for like $30 online. That'd bring the cost of online for 4 years to $120. $400 + $120 = $520. While we're at it though you can already get PS3's below MSRP on EBAY, even after shipping costs are included...

It basically depends on what you need. I dont keep my wireless router next to my TV so I need a wireless adapter. The 360 adapter is very overpriced at $100. That makes my cost:
360: $400 + $20 (charge and play) + $100 wireless adapter + $200 (4 years of live) = $720
PS3: $600 + $10 (HDMI cable from monoprice) = $610
I dont use the headset on either and I already own a bluetooth headset but ill add that in as well. PS3: $660
For me the PS3 comes out cheaper in the long run and has a Blu-ray player built in. Not a necessity but nice to have. Basically Sony likes to add everything in at once and charge a high price. Microsoft likes to have tons of accessories and charge alot for them. Both ways you are still paying. And for the record I already own both and the price of neither really bothered me.
echelon
What is that damn wireless adaptor ?? Why is it a must have ? I connect to Live without it
OMG, I won't use blu-ray for movie, so let's not count it.

are you saying that the price of the ps3 is more than 360 or are you saying that the value of the ps3 (pricewise) is greater than te 360?PS3 >>>>>>>> X360
Price-wise, that is.
caywen
You need to include the price of HD-DVD. and whyy? because PS3 has a next-gen format (blu-ray), so it's only fair to even them both out with a next-gen disc. I mean think, if you removed blu-ray from PS3, PS3 would cost the same as 360, or atleast a significant difference in price.lilrush
but Xb Live is better than PSN, so they arent equal.Rob2223
Blu-ray is better than DVD so its not equal
60Gb is better that 20 Gb so thats not equal either
