When I first started gaming it was at 1024x760 as the standard (320x160 for consoles of the time)
Now 10 years later I'm at 2560x1600, and am seeing more and more screenshots with that resolution.
Meanwhile consoles are struggling to do 720p (about the same spread as pc vs console years ago)
Do you think the next consoles will be 1080p standard, and PC at something higher than 1600p?
How much will graphics improve when consoles aren't upscaling images into muddy resolutions they don't support? Imagine Gears 3 at true 1080p + AA.
Unfortunately for consoles, TV sellers are using 1080p (and will be for years) as their max resolution. Meanwhile PC monitors keep increasing in resolution, dramatically increasing image fideltiy in games. How will consoles get over the 1080p hump when TVs don't support higher res?
