I asked a simular question a couple weeks ago my thread ended up being pretty long with responses
I came to the conclusion , that it really depends on which library you like the most. And whether you eventually plan to have all the consoles , two consoles, or you just want one dedicated gaming machine?
For me , the library is the most important thing. So Ps4 will be my main console. 2nd to me is portability because I'm a student and work part time , and have different groups of friends that like to play video games. So the Switch will be my secondary console.
I have a gaming PC, but the PC library bores me to absolute tears. That and I cant transport my huge gaming tower very easily (I can easily slide my Ps4 / Switch into a backpack and bring it with me to school/friends house/elsewhere). My favorite games tend to be RPGs, JRPGs , and games with anime themes or japanese origins .
PC isn't objectively the best answer b/c libraries differences in exlusives and portability factor. But of course it has all the raw power and the best potential to play games at 4K 60+ FPS and the best virtual reality. My main problem with it is that there are many RTS, indie games, simulator games and its difficult to weed through them all to find the games that I actually like. Most games usually do make it to steam (if they arent true console exlusives) , but you never know if that will be a simulatneous PC release or if you have to wait years down the line for that game to be ported. PC is more like a luxery console to me, to have the best possible way to play multiplats (and admittedly, most games are multiplats and usually see simultaneous steam releases in modern times).
I wouldnt get a PC unless you have money to burn. IF you dont have any current gen consoles, its pretty much always smarter to get a Ps4 (maybe a switch) . And then if you save up /get more money later, then sure, build a gaming rig and use it for your multiplats. The only exception to this argument is if you love the indie games , RTS, simulator games of PC .
