15 Facts Why 2018 is a TERRIBLE Year for PC Gaming

11. Single-Player Games on PC are Dead Compared to Multi-Player F2P Games

I know PC gamers don't want to hear this but these are all facts. Cold Hard Facts. I'd like to know how these things affect players that actually care about playing on PC, rather than boasting about what PC can potentially do.

I mean bloody hell, look at these stats:

If your platform has close to TWO MILLION game bans in a single month, then you know your online experience is gutter level trash. Even worse, these stats are only for Steam games, you also have hundred thousands of bans in games like Overwatch, Fortnite, LoL and the list goes on.

The worst part is, most people on PC play only multi-player games. No other genre is as big as Battle Royale and MOBA on PC. Single-Player games on PC are as good as dead player-count wise, only modding is saving a selected few.

Then you add in the fact that the biggest single-player experiences are only coming out on consoles and you're practically done. Why even bother? The majority of PC gamers CLEARLY don't care about their platform or otherwise they wouldn't destroy it by hacking in the platforms' most lucrative games.

Everyone that uses the PC Master Race bollox should be ashamed, this platform isn't as good as the fanboys want to make it out.

There are some legitimate problems you listed, especially the GPU stuff and hackers (though I imagine most of those numbers come from PUBG thanks to China). This is not a good time to get into PC gaming if you aren't already.

I've never had a problem with lack of games to play on the platform though and that is ultimately what matters.

some of the points you made are silly though. Major games not on steam? who cares? SP gaming is alive and well on the platform as well, just not the same types of games that are popular on console for the most part. who honestly gives a shit about GOTY titles and not having a handful of insanely high budget but ultimately shallow and short-lived exclusives? (and lets be honest, if you can afford a gaming PC, you can probably afford to spend a few hundred on a console to play those as well).

Its also worth noting that PC gets MORE multiplats than other systems. There are lots of examples of games that are PS4/PC only, or XBOX/PC only, or Switch/PC only. its like a neutral middle ground that the big three companies will sometimes allow games on while keeping them off their competitors systems.

I play one game online, and rest of that are SP. I'm fine with PC.

Besides, no wonder online is thriving on PC, the only platform where it's actually free like it should be.

Just for clarity's sake, these are multi-player bans, Steam doesn't have 26,000+ MP games. Most games on Steam are asset flips that no one actually plays. According to BattleEye over a million PUBG players have been banned in January alone.

Most of these bans are from people who've cheated in PUBG, CS:GO, R6:Siege and the likes.

Agree, most of the bans would probably occur on MP games. Doesn't seem likely it would happen on SP only.

Do you have any info on console ban numbers? Makes it hard to benchmark anything without those numbers.

RDR2 looks sort of interesting, but is pretty much guaranteed to make it to PC eventually.

Every new console generation gives me less and less reasons to buy one. My ps4 is the worst investment ever. Grand total of two games I actually cared to play. HZD (which was good, but not some timeless classic I'll go back to again and again) and Persona 5. Bloodborne is the only other title I actually want to play, but haven't gotten around to yet. Hopefully the fps drops into the low 20's don't make me hurl.

And yet i can play games like ac Odyssey, shadow of tomb raider etc. upcoming games at 60 fps only on PC. That's not what I'd call a terrible thing you know. In fact that would be one of it's perks.

Lot of PC hit threads in system wars. What's the deal? In the cases of Sony and Nintendo, PC is no threat to either console since their first party output are (mostly) off the platform this gen.

Here is a objective list, showing why PC is regarded as the best system at the moment:

1. PC wins at Gamespot. The most used site here, and the site we are posting on. PC has 380 high scoring titles. The next system, PS4, is at 315.

2. PC wins at MetaCritic. The second most used site here. PC has 411 high scoring titles. The next system, PS4, is at 297.

3. PC wins at Digital Foundry. The third most used site here. According to over their Face Off's, a vast majority of video games are better "experienced" on PC.

4. If hacking was a serious issue, PC wouldn't hold a vast majority of e-sports and competitive video games, which can kill such scenes. https://www.esportsearnings.com/games. If hacking was as bad as you say, PC wouldn't have several times the players than PS4. Or several times the highly played online games than PS4.

PC doesn't get many big SP games? Even if you want to pretend CRPGs don't exist (Pillars/Divinity), PC gets funneled tons of console exclusive SP titles and the most multiplats of any system. Which system do you think CDRP and BGS games are best played on? What are you talking about?

Last I checked, when your system is down by 70-100 great games, another system plays the better version of most of your library, and your online is by far less capable - It's objectively a worse system.
