Scale? The resoultion of 1080i and 1080p is the same. However one is interlaced and one is progressive. They are not the same in that since and there is a significant difference as far as display goes. As far as signal, eh not so much.ramey70

I did not think there was ever an arguement about the actual scale being changed..... 1080 is 1080 The arguement is over the actual differences between interlaced and progressive. In reality you cant tell a difference on a TV less than 50 inches or that an average HD tv is not playing a rapidly moving picture like a sports broadcast. It does require significantly more bandwidth to broadcast interlaced signals.Tib3ron
I can't believe how people can come up with dump things like : " teh game is 1080i , it's only upscaled to 1080p 11!1!1! " . 1080 = 1080 . the only difference between the 2 resolution , it's the way the picture is rendered on the screen . Stop being dumb people and start thinking . here a link , it might teach you something :

There is so such thing as 1080i upscaled to 1080p . since it's the same freaking scale .
maybe the SW IQ will rise now

You are totally wrong about 1080p and 1080i being the same resoolution.  1920 x 1080 is the resolution for 1080p  and 1366 x 768 is the resolution for 1080i.   That is a huge difference. Check your facts before you argue.

It's ironic that you're telling him to check his facts when you haven't even checked your own. :|
1366 x 768 is in the same league as 720p. You may see televisions advertising 1080i with that resolution and the image is scaled down to 1366 x 768 instead of the full 1920 x 1080 resoultion it's set to display in.
^^ I second that. 1920x1080 is 1080, regardless of interlaced or progressive. The big difference is that 1080p requires pumping twice as much graphical data in the same amount of time as 1080i. Read some of the posts above to learn the difference.

Well, let's just say it's a lot easier to accomodate a 1080i signal with only 768 physical lines of resolution, since only 540 lines are updated per cycle. It's ironic that you're telling him to check his facts when you haven't even checked your own. :|

My God, the ignorance.1366 x 768 can display both 720p and 1080i, since it has enough pixels that it can accomidate both 540 simeltaneous lines (1080i) or 720 simeltaneous lines (720p). 1080p TVs are the true holy grail though because they have 1080 simeltaneous lines, which is double the resolution of 1080i and nearly 30% more than 720p.TimstuffMy God, the ignorance.

I have a 56" 1080p set and I can't tell the difference when I'm feeding a 1080p signal or 1080i signal. I do notice a major difference in the actual display however (I have an older 57" 1080i set as well). ramey70becuase your tv will basically use an internal line double to convert the image to 1080p
