Mine was... Final Fantasy IX I think. Although I had watched my older brother play FFVII and VIII when they had come out. Ah... memories...
Ahh great question! :) My first Square game was Final Fantasy IV on the SNES! (Back then, known as Final Fantasy II).queen_valentine
Me too, except that before I had played any Square game I had already played Dragon Warrior I for the NES. That is the first game to get me into RPGs. My very first RPG though was on the Atari 2600, I believe it was called, "Quest", but it definitely didn't get me interested in RPG's.
My first Square game was Super Mario RPG (weird I know) but I have fond memories of that game. It is still one of my favorite games of all time. Blace_07
Is it really fun?

Yes, it is easily one of the best RPG's ever made, and one of Square's best games ever.

I think that the real question is "Who owns the rights, exactly?". ;)

Probably Nintendo, but you never know;)
I first played Dragon Warrior on the NES and thought ... wow this kinda sucks ... but once Ibought Final Fantasy I was blown away by the story and "awesomly groovystate-of-the-art" graphics. I think I played it about 10 more times until the SNES came out, Then it was all about IV (II) and of course Mystic Quest. Then I went over to Enix's Lufia 2 and RPG's became my gaming career and life.tabian00
Umm....Weren't the Lufia games produced by Taito? I suppose that it doesn't matter now that SE have swallowed them up. :)

Yeah Taito was Lufia, but oh well - Lufia was great! Only if there was a proper sequel or remake for it >_>

I've been meaning to play the old SNES versions for years, but I've never quite got round to it. Maybe when I retire I'll have some time to actually play games again (that's at least 30 years off yet, though). ;)
Mine was Chrono Trigger. Ha ha, I still remember the first time I saw it on those real old Super Nintendo display video thingies at Toys R Us. I just knew I had to had it :)Kenshin18
I recently played that. One word: Amazing.
My first square game would have be Final Fantasy 7Jmah1337
Man where can I find a cheap version of that game? I looked on EBAY and Amazon and the minumum price was $60 . Tell me thats not a bit much for a game that come out 12 years ago.

 It's not so much that it came out 12 years ago, it's that PS1 games aren't sold in stores that much anymore and it was one of the best RPGs from the PS1 era, so it is going to cost alot. I can think of plenty other RPGs that are more recent than VII from the PS1 era that cost more

Also because of the spinoffs, people increase the price of the game, since some people will pay it to see wha happened in FFVII.
[QUOTE="smootheyes2"]mine was Star Ocean Till The End Of Time. It's my fave game EVER!!S_Jake
In that case, I recommend that you try tracking down a copy of Star Ocean 2. :)
