Just Trying to figure out which Next Gen system I should purchase, as I am a harcore sports gamer, I want to know which system is best? PS has always seemed to be top for sports games as the gameplay seems to be real good. I have owned the PS1 and PS2 and was completely satisfied with both systems, but now the 360 really has me questioning which system to buy as the sports titles available for 360 are far better than PS3. Or would maybe the key be to wait until the fall when the new football and hockey titles are available?

I would have to say the 360.It has a much larger user base so games will be designed for that system and then ported to the ps3,plus live is better than psn.

The wii won't do well for sports games but it may have many fun child aimed sports games(like mario sport games). The PS3 has slightly more power than the 360 although i doubt that power will ever be used properly to fully take advantage of it. The 360 has seen many great sports games so far and i expect it to continue. With live at its back the 360 versions will be better. However The ps3 has a bigger fanbase so it will continue to make more game sales

Okay well wii while good for madden doesn't get any other sport games like that. The PS3 is slightly more powerful than the 360 (look at some of Gametrailers new graphical comperisons and the PS3 is slightly better in games like obelvion and Virtua tennis) but the 360 has achicevements for sports games so there about even.

For realistic, licenced games; the XBox 360

For fun sports gameplay; the Wii.

I'd say PS3, only because my 360(the 2nd one) keeps breaking down(in 25 years I never had a console break down on me Xbox 360 does it twice), and somehow it seems to have the most trouble running sportstitles, another thing I have a problem with on my 360 is a lack of response, my controller doesn't always register quick button combo's. On the PS3 my sportstitles are solid they haven't frozen on me yet, the controller functions a lot better. Between Xbox live and PSN, Xbox live has more players, but the amount of quality players on both networks is in my opinion pretty much the same, and PSN is of course still growing.

360

EA and 2K design them for the 360, then port them to the PS3

when you port a game, you lose quality

The games will be the same for the 360 and Ps3 offline, but I think the 360 will do better with the online gaming.

madden 07 for wii was easily the best madden game in the last decade. and wii sports is awesome. but i don't see the possibility for wii basketball or hockey games being good. the 360 and ps3 will have the same games, so it really doesn't matter.

One of the main reason I bought Xbox 360 is for Sport games + Xbox live. IMO 360 is better for online sport gaming.

I'm not sure. Madden 07 and NBA Live 07 for the 360 really sucked.

I have read many posts of people who experienced the same problem.  I have yet to hear anyone say their PS3 broke down.  I think I am getting the PS3 after all.  I don't want to be in that position to put out hundreds of dollars to have a console break down on me.  I don't have the time for it.  Good luck with your 360 and I hope you don't go through this again!

That is too true. Plus, they said that the build of GTA 4 is running on a 360 system (whatever the beta ones are called that they build it on) even though it has always been first made on Sony's system. Also, the PS3 isn't more powerful than the 360 (even though that's what people will try and say). It does do a touch better in some areas but the 360 is better in other areas. But yeah, 360 has the better base and online so most companies are starting with that system and then porting their stuff to the PS3.

while that is true, they are building their main code/build on the 360. Plus, there are other games like Splinter Cell that look better on 360 than PS3 (according to a side by side comparison) as well as MLB 2K7 which looks better on 360. And like I said before, a game that has always been built on the Sony system first (GTA) is being made on the 360... And someone said that Madden 07 and Live 07 sucked on the 360 but that's your opinion (Live did suck though). I mean, NBA 2K7 is AWESOME and NHL 07 is the best hockey game I have played since NHL 93/94 for Genesis!

I would go for the 360 as it is the leading console out of the two powerhouses currently.

Ummm u really cant go wrong with either console.  Perferably I would get teh 360 just cause it has been out longer and developers know it better (plus they say its easer to make games for).  Yes the ps3 can pump out some better graphics but the diffrence should be minimal.  Go with the 360 man.

IMHO, Madden 07 and NBA Live 07 suck on all system. NBA 2K7 is so much better than Live 07. I still prefer NFL 2k5 over any Madden.

Not the Wii.

The 360 and PS3 are very comparable and have many of the same sports games, so the only deciding factors there are:

    1.) Online networks (Xbox 360)

    2.) Controller comfort (Subjective)

    3.) Price (Xbox 360)

The key word in there is COULD because that means there is a possibility (a good one if you ask most people) that it will get up to 360 levels but it still has a chance of not getting there. My bet is on not just because it still doesn't have any must haves like the 360 does.
