I no way am I suggesting that this is the best one, but Heat/Cavs is turning into quite a rivalry. The Cavs obviously have the superior team, but the Heat can hang with them. It would make for a very intriguing matchup in the playoffs. I say it would go at least 6 games.
I'd probably go with Spurs/Lakers as the best rivalry though. Those are always good games in my opinion.
Before this year and the Wizards falling apart my personal favorite was Cavs vs Wiz. I went to all their playoff games over the last 2 years and they were all amazing.
Knicks vs Heat used to be awesome too. The games were mad physical and competitive. You could just taste the tension in the air.
Overall though I would probably go with Celtics vs Lakers.
The last two years would be Celtics/Cavs. I think it takes priority over Lakers/Celtics since the Celtics and Cavs have to beat each other to get to the Finals for a chance to possibly play the Lakers. Now if were talking the three years before that I would say Suns/Spurs. Those were some intense series with both teams really disliking each other, and both with a team capable of winning a title. I miss those years.
It's a rivalry when both teams are pretty even and play hard so Cavs/Heat is no rivalry, because the Cavs always win. Looking LeBron and Wade play each other is awesome, but team-wise it is far from a rivalry. Even worse for Cavs and Wizards...just because Arenas was pushing it, doesn't mean it is a rivalry - the Wizards weren't even close to winning the series and the regular season games were blow-outs lately. Celtics / Lakers Celtics / Cavs (still in the making, tho) Suns / Spurs
Lakers vs. Celtics rivalry is a true rivalry that everyone can recognize and hear about. When both teams can account for 50% of the NBA titles in history...that's a pretty damn good rivalry.
Lakers v. Celtics. Its like the 80's all over again.
As a Wizards fan (yeah I admit it, just don't tell anyone OK:D) the Wizards v. Cavs rivalry was getting interesting even though we could not beat the Cavs in a 7 gamne series if our lives depended on it. That all changed this year with this disaster in DC.
I do like watching Lebron and Dwade go at it though.
If we get Lakers v. Celtics or Lakers v. Cavs in the Finals, I think any b-ball fan will be pleased with how good a series that will be.
For me, it's the Knicks/Bulls or Knicks/Heat back in the 90's....It used toget really rough between these teams when they played against each other.
Recently though, I would pick Suns/Spurs or Detroit/Cleveland they met a couple of time in the postseason I would have picked Wizards/Cavs but that's not going anywhere now though it used to get tense whenever they played in the postseason.
