5. Quintin Coples: Known to take plays off, will just be another Nick Fairley

4. Ryan Tannehill: if this kid starts right out of the gate he is in trouble.

3. David Wilson: don't get me wrong i think he will be decent, but he was drafted too high IMO, was more of 3rd or 4th round range player.

2. Justin Blackmon: character issues will ruin his career if he doesn't learn to grow up.

1.Brandon Weeden: 28 years old, drafted in the 1st round, plays for the browns, nuff said.

How can you tell if a player is a bust when they haven't even played yet?

People expect too much out of first rounders. In some cases, they expect them to carry the team.

I don't think a supplemental 3rd rounder can really bust.

My canidiates though in no order

5. Ryan Tannehill- A late first round prospect pushed up due to demand for the position, and hype. Comes off of limited experience (See Sanchez, Mark), and going to a dreadful team (See: Harrington, Joey).

4. Dontari Poe- Coming off a largely unimpressive college career with no stats or tape to back up his draft position (in conference USA nonetheless). No one will deny that he's been pushed up into the top dozen due to physical abilities, size, and impressive combine numbers. Some call him the next Ngata or Wilfork, but I don't see it, and never would trust a player being drafted on measurables (Matt Jones, Vernon Ghoulston, Taylor Mays, etc).

3. Bruce Irvin- Has no power, and seems undersized despite decen measurables, unless something were to seriously change he's a one-dimensional, situtional career pass rusher. Not to mention the fact that he's been arrested for defacing public property and robbery within the past few years.

2. Brandon Weeden- 28-year-old going to an awful team where he'll have no weapons surrounding him. Really not much else to say.

1. Justin Blackmon- He's plently talented and would have been an excellent pick if not for character issues which we now realize are now resolved as previously hoped.

  1. Bruce Irvin - one trick pony
  2. Bruce Irvin - not expected to start for the Seahawks until 2014 at the earliest
  3. Bruce Irvin - wasn't even a regular starter in college
  4. Bruce Irvin - has a learning disability that makes it very difficult for him to understand any play scheme more complicated than "run towards "QB"
  5. Bruce Irvin - history of off-field issues

The Raiders are one big bust. No matter who they draft or where, that person will fail to live up to anything. And that was last year, this thread is about this year. Find who the Raiders drafted, put a potential to that player and watch him fail to reach it.

I think Quintin Coples will become another Vernon Gholston. When you don't play hard in college football, how is one's work ethic gonna be motivated when you are making millions of dollars? Rex Ryan has his work cut out for him

These are just predictions, you don't know who's a bust when they haven't even played yet. In no order:

  • Justin Blackmon - Not particularly fast or tall, I don't see how he was a top 5 pick. He's also having off the field issues already.
  • Brandon Weeden - A 29 year old drafted in the first round? Because of his age they'll likely have to rush him into starting, even if he's not ready yet.
  • Ryan Tannehill - He was originally a WR, not a QB. He doesn't have much experience and also makes some careless decisions. He has lots of potential though, so if the Dolphins are smart they'll bench him for his first couple of years.
  • Bruce Irvin - Projected to be a third round pick but got picked #15 overall, has character issues, and is undersized. Need I say more?
  • Brock Osweiler - I know that he was a second round pick, but that doesn't change the fact that I think he'll be a bust. He's highly unaccurate and the only thing he has going for him is his height. His game against Boise State shows how bad he really is

Richardson. Browns OL is miserable and their schedule looks tough. Bust is too far, he will be a stud but I don't see him living up to the many lofty expectations and warranting a 3rd overall pick. They also traded up several picks when they seem to have many other spots to fill. On top of that, they'll likely run him to death. The brightside is that they could end up with another high pick to use on another QB

I still am struggling to understand why the Browns drafted Weeden. The team lacks any legitimate go-to receiver and he's already so old.

I think Coples is going to prove a lot of people wrong... and will be motivated by all the so called experts knocking him. R.Ryan will put him in a situation to be productive. Gholston was a guy who shot up draft boards in the combines that had no business being drafted that high. That's a bust pick all the way. It's a waste of time to try and predict draft picks before they play a game. If Coples turns out to be a stud you'll never hear Mel Kiper admit he was wrong like is on a ton of players every draft. I think the Jets D with the solid, speedy linebackers, A.Maybin bringing the outside pass rush and Mo Wilkerson and Coples pushing up the middle and on the edge is going cause some havoc for opposing QB's. Coples is definitely a rookie to keep an eye on to see if he makes an impact or not.

I honestly couldn't say. The last 3 versions of Madden have taught me to covet rookies, so I am pretty much clueless. I suppose watching far more college hoops than college football doesn't help much either.
