They want someone with managerial experience or coaching experience in the majors. Which mean Sandberg probably won't be hired, maybe not even considered. He's the one a lot of fans want though.

as a life long cubs fan its my time to step in. im glad we got epstein and some of his boys from back in the day to come in and hopefully work there magic. I love the approach of building the team and not trying to buy a title like the yankees did a couple of years ago. quade was a filler guy i knew he would only last one or two seasons he wasnt the manager just the manager before the next manager. id love to see the team spend the money on a guy like pujols or fielder but I doubt they will. its gonna be a long climb out but we need to build this team for October. we havent won a postseason game since 2003. Getting swept in back to back years sucked so this team is going to need one or two seasons.
