I heard about this on ESPN before, I agree that the Patriots 16-0 record is better.

Dolphins will be the #1 team as they did it first. Pats could create their own category by doing it 2 years in a row.

the big difference is the rules. If the current Patriots played in '72. Wes would be crippled, Brady would be banged up and have thrown at least double the INT's. Pre 2000 the league was a lot more violent. The only reason the Patriots are as successfull as they were is because of the rule changes to protect players from injury. (Not saying that they couldn't have gone 16-0, but It would have been alot more difficult.)

you can't compare teams from different eras especially in football. The league, the rules and the players are completely different. Its an extremely difficult feat to accomplish so the dolphins did it first and if the patriots win it all. They deserve the same recognition as the dolphinsreceive (agreat team). The patriots have to go down as one of the best teams of all time.

Lol. The 72 Fins played a 14 game regular season.

You know so little about what you're talking about I'm not going to bother addressing the 2nd part.

One of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

If anything, the athletes are far bigger, stronger, and faster now.

Apples and oranges, they can never be compared

The Dolphins did it in an era of a stronger league and without the aid of advanced sports medicine.

The Pats did it in an era with free agency.

Each one has it's drawbacks and advantages.

I agree. These two teams played so far apart I don't think you accurately compare them.

The 1972 Dolphins are the most overrated team of all time. Only having to beat only two teams with a winning record, give me a break. Hell, they weren't even the best team of that decade. Plenty of teams are better than them aside from the 07 Patriots.

so just because they would be more physical automatically guarantees a win?

How do you "guarantee" a win in a ridiculous fantasy scenario, but how would the athletes being far superior today NOT help?
