Which retro console was your favorite and what games did you play? Dreamcast, SNES, Atari, or PlayStation?

I chose SNES. I thought it was going to be an easy decision with the SNES, but I thought a lot about PSX and DC. I had a lot of fun playing both of those systems growing up. So much time spent playing Phantasy Star Online or NFL 2K1. But the PSX had Resident Evil, Final Fantasy VII and tons of other role-playing games that I loved. But I settled on SNES because two of my favorite games of all time are on it - Harvest Moon and Uncharted Waters: New Horizons. Plus tons of other great games that consumed my childhood.

I've always been a fan of the Dreamcast, I think partly because of how much promise it had shown with so many great and unique games, yet didn't get the chance to show everyone just how great it could be. Can only imagine what kind of games would have come out had the DC stayed alive.

Out of those: PS1. SNES is a very close second.

I was always an Amiga kid before I got my first PC, but I did get a N64 around the same time my brother got a PSX.

So yeah I guess I'd go with the PSX out of them.

To be fair, my favorite is PS1 because that was what I had and to tell you the truth, I got late to the home console, I played in Arcades as a teenager and quit gaming until 15-16 years ago so I didn´t went through the other consoles.

SNES and PS1 are close, but the PS1 had Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy IX, SNES does have Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid which give it serious points, just can't top PE for me

I have an affinity towards the NES, Genesis, and SNES for the normality of game rentals back then. Those consoles had huge game libraries and most people I know actually played a large portion of them at the time of release.

This was a difficult decision to make, but in the end I had to choose the PlayStation. Though the SNES and Dreamcast both devoured chunks of my time while growing up, the PSOne did so on an unparalleled level. From RPG classics (Final Fantasy VII-IX), to 3D fighters finally coming into their own on a home console and 3D platformers finding their way it was an exciting time for me personally to be a gamer. I actually still very vividly remember the first time I picked up a controller and played Tomb Raider, and after years of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and LttP (both fantastic games in their own right) it was a revelation! The game feels clunky now, and admittedly hasn't aged nearly as well as those 16-bit juggernauts, but experiencing it when it was new was definitely something special.

Anyway, yeah, I've got to give my vote to the OG PlayStation.

I voted PS but I just got my replacement Dreamcast. I did enjoy that console but to be honest PS did give me more.

The SNES definitely. It's the only console that universally has all my favourite games on it and an absolutely perfect lineup, from a subjective view of mine. I mean when you have games like A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Mario World and Yoshi's Island and Chrono Trigger to name a few off the top of my head.. you can't get much better than that.

I love the "Age breakdown" feature it really shows that anyone older than 25+ has voted for SNES.

Out of this first list, it was a tough choice. I went with DC since the question was "favorite" and not "best". SNES and PS1 were close, and in a number of ways "better" for me in terms of larger libraries etc, but the DC is my most beloved of the 3 with the library I still play the most of (only a handful of SNES and PS1 games still draw me back, mostly their epic JRPGs and Mario)

The Sega Genesis is number 1 for me. So I picked the Dreamcast instinctively.

From the list the obvious choice for me was the PS1, love that console. So many great games, across all genres, but mostly for JRPGs and Survival Horror in my case.

Out of those 4 consoles. The Super Nintendo followed by the original PlayStation then the Atari 2600. I never had a Sega Dreamcast.

I chose PS1,because that is the first actual home console I have as a kid...never a fan of the others..especially 2600,but doesn't mean I hate them all together(I'm still in research for these as a part of my self-taught theory and practice about video games)

as for the games...it's usually of Japanese touch like Kaettekita Cyborg Kuro-Chan or Bishi Bashi Special...still remember the other games I listed from my thread here a couple of months ago.(don't even think about necroing this one or I'm upset, best to have it locked and for viewing purposes only)

I always preferred actual Arcade games. Superior in every single way. But I have to choose the SNES only because of it's library and 3rd party support. DC being a close second.
