I think we're due for one of these types of threads.

I went to politicalcompass.org (not advertising) because I've always used that one in the past and it's interesting to see how things have changed. I understand that the "test" is limited in the type of questions that it asks but it's something. The last time I took it I was more in the centre, and before that I was left. It looks like I'm more left than before. My beliefs have not really changed but the site may have added or changed questions. It also doesn't help that there is no "I don't care" option. You have to agree or disagree on something and it forces you to pick a selection. Perhaps I picked the opposite choice last time.

For those who want to share, what does your political compass look like? What other "tests" have you used or recommend? Has your compass changed? I know these things are unnecessary, since people know where they stand but I thought it'd be fun.

I remember taking this test and ending up much closer to the middle, but the same box if memory serves. I'm pretty comfortable with the drift to the left though as well as the libertarian leanings. I'm far more knowledgeable and thus confident in views than I would have been several years ago.

Based on what I was thinking regarding these questions the libertarian side is less about government getting out of my life as it is with wanting corporations to get out of my life. I don't think that government should tell people what to do regarding sex or drugs, but I'm very cool with government regulating industry to keep said industry from collecting data on everything I do.

I won't say it is entirely accurate, there is always a chance I misunderstood some of the questions. And "I don't care" should have been there.

@SOedipus: I've done this a few times Mines a square above and right to yours. But funny enough some people say I'm right when I don't agree with them.

I've drifted left because I am much more against massive corporations and their illegal data collection on everything we do.

I'm also against government propping up select business with taxpayer money and then lamenting about safety nets for the taxpayers

A few years ago, I took this test. It was flipped upside down. I was a bit authoritarian.

OK this is mine. I did find that I had easy answers to more questions than the last time. I don't really know where I was last time on the compass, I only remember it was somewhere in the same quadrant.

Nah not that right or authoritarian, but it shows how far left the Democrats have gone in the last few years.

The site has changed last time I was on it. Don't like the color scheme. Too clinical.

That was interesting. I feel some of the questions were a little loaded, but overall not bad.

I’d post mine but after being a member of Gamespot for over 12 years I have no idea how to post images from moble.

@Chutebox:

Yea, some of the questions were assumptive and meaningless. Your opinion on the value of abstract art doesn’t have anything to do with your political values.

There also seemed to be a lack of issues I care about, such as property rights, government over reach, taxs, and militarized police.

Social libertarian, which makes sense. I follow the golden rule, but also feel that people can't really be trusted a lot of the time.

You're more left leaning when it comes to education, aren't you? (If one view you as more right leaning than this test gives the impression of)

Most people seem to be in the green quadrant, which isn't surprising.

People have done the same to me as well. It makes them feel that they have an edge in the conversation or something.

Thats a perfect illustration of the pitfalls of these scales. Two opposite- end positions place you square in the middle, but it's a deceptive positioning.

That dude was a troll. It was almost impossible to have a coherent discussion with him and he admitted to being a racist. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s banned.

Which is a very left leaning stance. At least in US politics. The details would be in what is considered a proper subject, but that is a different discussion.

Yes, but if you look at the benefits it´s actually something that benefits everyone especially in a capitalist society where more and more jobs are vanishing because of automation.

And ya what is a proper education is a topic for another time.

At this point I'm just straight up hard Anti-Conservative. I don't need a graph to tell me what I already know.

It's cool if you want to live in a theocratic ethnostate with the christian equivalent of sharia law and rampant pedophilia but keep that banjos and moonshine shit out of my state, New York, and especially stay the **** out of NYC.
