Wave of companies cut off donations — much of it to GOP

Wave of companies cut off donations — much of it to GOP | TheHill

A wave of corporations on Monday said they would cut off donations to any politicians who opposed the Electoral College results, putting new pressure on Republicans to break with President Trump and end their attacks on the election.

Looks like free market capitalism at work. Being associated with the some pathetic Republicans is bad for business.

In a sane world, they'd never have to make this decision.

I wish they would stop donating money to politicians entirely.

I also wish I had a pet unicorn.

Will these companies continue donating to the party who elected Raphael "all white people need to repent" Warnock?

Because in 2021 it's okay to be openly racist in the DNC, but being a Republican taking selfies at Capitol Hill makes you a "Nazi."

Are you referring to this?

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/12/29/fact-check-warnock-sermon-whiteness-condemns-racism/4008303001/

The quote condemned "Whiteness", which is not hte same as White people. For all intents and purposes, it may just have referred to a mentality.

Also, I am not even gonna go into how bad his opponent was, so even then, favoring him over who he was running against is a reasonable move.

Never should have donated to politicians in the first place.

I've never been a fan of money in politics but maybe this will wake up some Republicans to stand for democracy.

I'm just waiting for morons to argue that they're entitled to the money, just as they are to a private company's infrastructure to spread their hate.

While I don’t disagree, all this will end up doing is building more anger and festering resentment amongst the GOP and conservatives in general that they’re being unfairly persecuted. And they will play the victim card to the hilt for those dumb enough to swallow it to be able to sow more discord and upheaval in the future.

Amazing that for the “Party of personal responsibility”, there’s not one iota of it to be had anywhere. Not once will they stop and do some self-reflection as to why they’re being ostracized, it’s everyone else’s fault that the world is oh-so unfair to them.

Truly the party of Trump.

They have a victim complex problem and will do that anyways.

Business wants to donate to the politicians who will cut their taxes and cut their regulations but they aren't dumb enough to bankroll a fascist dictatorship and its party, and they were fine though backing a party that separated kids from parents and called the countries that dark skinned people come from "shithole countries" or called war heroes "losers", so this is probably less about principles as it is about Trump crossing a line and being a business liability.

Agreed, should be a very tight limit on the amount that can be contributed by a company or household. Less than $10,000 for sure, maybe even less.

A corporate entity having any kind of influence on politicians like that...... how this been considered ok by so many for so long completely escapes me.
