So far....

That's over 255 times more than the presidential salary he claims to donate.

Next month he will travel out of the country, just to play golf at his own resort. And we are paying for it. Our tax money going into his pocket.

And he still manages to go bankrupt.

Gotta fleece the country for all you can while you're president I suppose. Just like he does with his business empire.

Short term sacrifices must be made to ensure a better infrastructure. It's no different then you getting mad there's road construction, when you were complaining earlier that year that the road were crap.

Yeah, china isn't going to go back to buying from American farmers. They are already buying it from Russia.

Besides the fact that this person is linking to an AOL article, Any president will be protected no matter where he goes, so how much is spend is no worse or better than any other president.

But do keep making these popcorn threads, they are at least worth a few giggles.

the question isn't whether or not a president should be afforded full protection wherever he travels. of course they should.

the question is, is this just a TEEENSY bit hypocritical of a president who, years prior, make a campaign point about how he wouldn't be playing golf as he'd just be soo busy at the white house gettin' stuff done?

Loading Video...

thing is, few would have even batted an eye about it had he not previously made such a big deal over obama doing it. but to then get into office and play EVEN MORE golf than obama is pretty fucking stupid...

@comp_atkins: Sure, we can easily agree that Trump does not seem like a president who is doing a lot of work but unless we actually know what goes on behind the scenes, then we can´t really be sure.

But the argument here should not be about the cost of protecting our president, and any American should be glad especially someone like Trump is protected when he is someone half the world and America would love had an "accident" but about the few hours he put in, so far it looks like he goes to Mar-a-lago, every weekend which can be argued is not good.

Also i don´t hear complaints about Obama and him being the most expensive ex-president ever to protect. Which again I have zero problems with, he is a high profiled person and some crazy radical would love to be the one to get to close. And same goes for Trump when he is done being president if you think Obama is expensive just wait until Trump is done.

To be fair, Trump should be called out on his golfing escapades considering he called out Obama for his pro-tour golfing.

But it's not the same logic. Not at all.

The economy was trending up at roughly the same rate it is now for 6 years prior to Trump's inauguration. Thus, the logic he's using is that Trump's economic growth is largely a continuation of the trend that was established prior to his administration.

When Obama was inaugurated, the economy was in freefall. If Obama inherited an economic trend from Bush (and he did) it was that freefall, not the later rising trend.

The same asshole who complained about Obama golfing and promised to NEVER do the same!?!? I'm shocked that a pathological liar is being seen for his hypocrisy for the 100th time this year.

Ah yes the fool that complained about the golfing the former president did had to go and seriously out do him. POS trump. Waste that money and then want to take it away from the people who contributed to it. We all know he doesn't pay his taxes.

You are talking against better sense there.

Obama did take over but he took over most of Bush´s plans to save the economy and also took over from the start the initiatives like the bank plans that Bush had begun. Also, you should know that it takes a bit longer for a market to show anything than 2 years, so clearly you should know this as the economist expert you portray.

So the logic is the exact same thing, it´s kinda hilarious that you guys thank Obama just 2 years after Bush but yet turn on a plate and refuse to apply the same logic to Trump.

The mental gymnastics you guys do is hilarious.

I'm just looking at a chart of economic growth after the Great Bush Recession ended. It paints a familiar picture - The economy has been growing and unemployment has been dropping at the same rate since Obama turned things around.

You can look at all the charts but if you do not look at the facts behind the numbers, then there is no reason to look at the charts.

It is quite a stretch to claim that Obama's economy was thanks to bush, the same guy who destroyed it in the first place, but whatever makes you feel good, I suppose. Don't you get tired of twisting yourself into a pretzel? Lol

See here we have that crazy mental gymnastics again.

You contribute the economic growth in Obama´s first term presidency to Obama but Trump´s First term presidency you still contribute Obama.

Arguably tho, Obama´s second term is where you would be able to see any policies he made's effect, so there is no doubt that Obama did well with Bush´s plans and build on those.

Ya , which is funny especially when they "love" them

Because most of them came from plans Bush´s administration came up with during his last term.

Bush sure knew how to stack his cabinet.

@LJS9502_basic: Not necessarily. They cost rent, staff, catering, and transport. A round of golf could possibly cost less. Especially if the round is held at a Trump owned course.

Keeping security tight costs more on his courses than the ones Obama used if I recall correctly.

You know we own some buildings in DC already and the transport is less than heading to a golf course. Security is more expensive on the gold course. As for catering...…..they don't need food. They need to work.

So they extrapolated one report from the GAO and used that to come up with a guestimation of all the various trips? Thenuse a headline like: "Trump’s golf costs: $102 million and counting, with taxpayers picking up the tab."

Quality journali- oh wait, Huffpost. Nevermind.

@Stevo_the_gamer: that's a low estimate. Some are saying as high as $160 million.

It's known that at maralargo golf carts just for Secret service are billed $30,000 a round.

We had estimations like this one since he took office. Even by summer 2017 or so the estimations had him outspending Obama's 8 years golf trips before he finishes his first trip.

However lets drop the cost aspect of it. Trump goes to his own privately owned golf courses and makes money off it. On the taxpayers expense.

Trump attacked Obama for playing golf, then goes on playing golf more than Obama. Hypocritical isn't it?

Yes but trump fans won't admit that.
