Trump hails Arizona Senate for audit at Phoenix rally, slams governor | TheHill

Speaking to a crowd of supporters at the event dubbed the “Rally for Election Integrity,” Trump began by thanking the “brave and unyielding conservative warriors in the Arizona State Senate” for forging ahead with the audit.

On Saturday, Trump maintained his baseless claims of voter fraud calling it the “greatest crime.” He said that he hoped Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R) would take the audit's “findings’ and “do what everyone knows has to be done.”

So they are still on this lie? Trump will always be a moron, the issue is why do so many (Mostly Republicans/cons) buy into this shit? I mean this isn't even one of those debatable controversial things. It's straight up all wrong.

Is just spamming a lie as much as possible all it really takes to convince a large % of the population that a lie is real? I blame our education system in part.

Democracy has always just been a tool to get their (irredeemably poor) agenda accross. It's no surprise they question the results when they happen.

But now they seem to flat out own up to their anti-democratic stance. Democracy is only justified when we win. When we lose, it's fraud.

Edit: Removed a link. Because while it is loosely related to the topic, it isnt really related to the topic, but it is EXTREMELY damning to republicans.

@Maroxad: Can we now call democracy both an oligarchy and an kakistocracy or should we wait a bit?

As I’ve said before, it doesn’t matter what the truth is, it only matters what you can get people to believe. This whole election charade is nothing but long-game PR.

That‘s what Republicans are after, the truth is simply a nuisance at this point. Keep up a lie, keep hammering it home, and eventually people will come to believe it…..the same people that will then vote to elect representatives into office who will seek to address that belief to their constituents by enacting voting legislation that will address a “problem” Republicans created out of a con-man’s thin air that they’ll then use to favor them electorally.

Real shitty thing about this is, the Big Lie holds some basis in fact: fraud does occur, every election, but in reality is so marginal as to be inconsequential. But it doesn’t matter…..if they can plant the seed of plausibility and possibility into the heads of many, and stoke the fear in them through incessant fear-mongering and rhetoric based around paranoia and victimization (something conservatives excel at) that’s good enough.

Everything that’s happening now with the Big Lie is simply keeping up pretenses to manipulate the masses into supporting a solution to rectify a non-existent problem that will favor one party over another. Trump and his cronies will keep this up for as long as people are willing to listen. And they are….millions.

What if we keep hammering home the truth? Will people come back to that?

I understand why you're cynical but there's also a place to be optimistic. You can't give up, that's how they win.

We have to, but it won't make a difference for people who currently believe - you do it to prevent it from gaining further adherents.

The people who are in that swamp are gone, and they're not coming back with information exposure. They're in an echo chamber decades in the making that tells them anyone outside that chamber is lying.

I see no reason for optimism on that front. There is, however, optimism in that the military refused to go along with their bullshit and likely will do so in the near to mid future as well. That makes a violent overthrow less likely, and a political one comparatively more so.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of avenues for doing so, even at the state/local levels as we've seen. They've already made moves to pursue such actions, and many of them have a real possibility of succeeding.

This isn't over yet.

Sure, but the truth doesn’t hold the potency of fear in being able to sway belief. Republicans hone in on fear, paranoia and hate. The appeal to the worst inclinations in people to manipulate them to their cause.

Sorry to say, it’s an effective motivator and Trump is brilliant in his demagoguery. If the truth weren’t so benign in nature, I’d perhaps share a bit more in your optimism. As it is, I don’t.

It's disgusting to see what's been happening in AZ. I fear for the future of our country knowing that a large portion of our electorate are comfortable overturning legitimate election results. It's further reinforced when it's not rebutted by a single republican voter in these forums either. Staying silent on these issues and still voting for the GOP knowing full well what they're doing is still material support for these ant-democratic demagogues.

Republicans, are you really going to keep supporting this guy as he continues to sink your party?

I don't think they realize the damage he's doing to the party. He's losing the everyone but his base. The party will shrink and be a has been like the Whigs.

@LJS9502_basic: Let's not get too cocky. THey don't need to win the majority. They just need to suppress enough votes in the right places to ensure they still win.

TFG lost the suburbs. They aren't going after the suburbs.
