Trump confuses weather with climate change again: 'Wouldn’t be bad to have a little good old fashioned Global Warming right now!

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-twitter-climate-change-weather-global-warming-latest-a8737326.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1547992129

Be careful and try staying in your house. Large parts of the Country are suffering from tremendous amounts of snow and near record setting cold. Amazing how big this system is. Wouldn’t be bad to have a little of that good old fashioned Global Warming right now!

lol Donald Dumb.

@zaryia: You really need to include a facepalm warning to go with these posts, dude :D

on-topic: isn't "global warming" pretty much an antiquated term these days? Thought we were past that.

@mrbojangles25: yeah. It's called climate change now due to weather patterns changing.

Well, according to AOC we're all going to die in twelve years anyway. We may as well just usher the reaper if we're that close.

1. Deflection via whataboutism. Do you agree that what Trump said in my OP was stupid or not?

2. While AOC worded it very poorly, as she does at times, It WAS based off of reality:

"The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,"

It’s a reasonable take if you’re aware of the 12-year mark outlined in the 2018 UN “Special Report on Global warming of 1.5ºC,” released in October. It mentions the year 2030 —12 years from now — as the point of no return, if we keep on our current path. It’s mentioned 35 times in the report in varying applications.

https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2018/oct/08/global-warming-must-not-exceed-15c-warns-landmark-un-report

She probably should have said what the report said. Point of no return in 12 years.

Reminds me of this video I came across of some environmental position that was given to some pro coal guy by Trump. History isn't going to look kindly on these shills.

Climate change will probably go down as the most important issue our generation faced. Those denying it will likely be reviled for their ignorance and greed. It's embarrassing to see grown adults deny it or deflect on the issue.

@zaryia: Biggest difference there is that Donny was clearly telling a little joke while AOC was 100% serious.

All of those climate change doomsday reports always end up getting pushed back.

Besides, even the UN admitted that any meaningful change to climate change is going to be consumer choice. People who are concerned with climate change can do their part by:

- Becoming vegan and avoid GMO's

- Not driving a vehicle

- Only buying domestic products

But they don't. That lifestyle is too expensive/inconvenient for most people. People love their cheap food, cheap imported vehicles and cheap Chinese products, then claim the reason why there is climate change is because of the corporations who cater to their dirty, wasteful lifestyle.

His tweet falls in line with some of his more serious statements and actions reflecting climate skepticism.

His tweet falls in line with what other climate skeptics (which he is) have used.

@zaryia: Let me put it this way, "we could use a bit of global warming" and "THE WORLD WILL END IN 12 YEARS" are both equally dumb statements. The fact that Trump was being at least a little less serious makes it a little less dumb. My opinion.

@Maroxad: In some sense, but there is a downside to everything. Most people seem to believe that GMO foods have less pesticides, which isn't always true. Some of these "biopesticides" have only made invasive species more resistant to it.

Overall, it is more environmentally friendly, and their usage does lead to lower air pollution.

There are downsides, but overall, the upsides make more than up for the downsides.

GMOs at the current state might provide a net benefit over their natural counterparts. The scary part I guess is this transferred gene somehow transferring to another species again or because of the benefit from extra gene(s) later develops unwanted traits.

The knowledge itself on how to do it also opens up plenty of other opportunities.

Non-reciprocal tax increase due to extra climate change tax will decrease U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. When arguing for globalisation, make it consistent.

Climate change is nothing but a ruse to relieve you of your money and prosperity to redistribute wealth. The climate will change on this planet no matter what, thanks to the sun. And there is no problem with a warmer climate. The end of the medieval warm period was a prosperous time...thanks to a warmer planet. I just read an article from the Telegraph yesterday that blamed the mini-ice age of the 15th+ century on the white European's genocide of native Americans. It's claim was that because so many died the cultivated land (the size of France) was overtaken by plant growth and sucked so much CO2 out of the atmosphere it started cooling the earth. They did however forget to mention the earth had started cooling in the 14th century, not 1492. And also forgot to mention that 90% of the native died from disease, not genocide. But hey, the same people also think a big mac and a coke will create climate change. Climate change "science" is now nothing but a religion. Scientific FACTS be dammed. You have pockets to rob, and prosperity to kill. We'd use a hell of a lot less energy in Canada if we stopped having winter anyway. Nope, you just can't control the climate today, and you never will.

Tinfoil hat time. Science doesnt care about politics, Back in 1899 when anthropogenic climate change first got discovered, they didn't have redistribution of wealth in mind.

Not to mention, the original politicians who made a big deal about climate change were right wing conservatives, not left wing.

The climate will change on this planet no matter what, thanks to the sun.

Oh please, any middle schooler knows the issue with climate change has to do with the acceleration of it, not that it is warming.

Not only is T is rising, d(T) is as well.

And there is no problem with a warmer climate.

Aside from you know...

More parasites, the middle east becoming uninhabitable, increase of natural disasters, acidification of oceans, disruption of ocean currents, mass extinction, disrupted rainfall patterns, spread of tropical disease, mass immigration resulting in a refugee crisis that will make the syrian refugee crisis look like a drop of water next to a tsunami, and many many more.

But hey, the same people also think a big mac and a coke will create climate change. Climate change "science" is now nothing but a religion. Scientific FACTS be dammed.

Do you know what goes into the production of the meat to obtain a big mac? Then you would see their position. Cows flatulance produces a lot of methane, which in turn pollutes a lot. I remember a common joke back when I played WoW, was that Northrend was unaccessible because all the taurens farts caused so much global warming it melted.

Scientific facts overwhelmingly support climate change, no ammount of fake controversy from discredited scientists will change that fact, just like it didnt make evolution any less viable.

Nope, you just can't control the climate today, and you never will.

Except we, as biological organisms can, and we have. Us biological constructs may have only caused what might be the biggest calamity in earth's history, permanently changing the climate.

With how damn powerful us humans are, why do you think we can't do the same?

Evidence supports that we do.
