@LJS9502_basic: And I feel that emphasizing human qualities we all share, rather than pointing out race or privilege, are far better at undermining racism.

Someone taught at home to be a racist isn't going to care about any of that. Education shouldn't bother anyone.

Education? Sure.

This is indoctrination though.

Plus, why do you assume someone taught to be racist at home will wholeheartedly embrace it anyhow?

@HoolaHoopMan: "Proven" to me would mean that something similar has been implemented somewhere else, with at least somewhat similar societies, with a measurable reduction in racism, hate crimes, hate speech etc, after a certain period of time teaching it.

Until then, it's a social experiment, with our kids as the unwitting test subjects as far as I'm concerned.

Let me bring it back a notch. You indicated that we shouldn't be teaching things that haven't been 'proven'. 'Proven' is a fairly open ended term that really doesn't apply to the realm of STEM fields, since the methodology used to teach doesn't rely on a platform of 'provability'.

For example I could say please 'prove gravity' to me. You'd think it's an easy thing to do, but you'll soon realize that gravity is still a theory and has plenty of holes in it with respect to physics and combability with quantum mechanics. Knowing this, should we discontinue the teaching of general relativity and gravitation law given that we cannot fully 'prove' that gravity is a real thing?

That's kind of a false equivalency though, as we have more than enough mathematical proofs of gravity and it's effects existing in exactly the way we all believe it does.

The same cannot be said for either:

a) the reason(s) racism still exists

b) the outcomes of teaching C.R.A.P. to kids

It's quite hilarious, because other than mono-race societies which have no mixing of races in the first place, you'd be hard pressed to find a less racist or bigoted place than North America as a whole. Outliers like some places in the deep south notwithstanding.

I don't view it as a false equivalency. I'm simply trying to extrapolate upon given criteria you presented on what is appropriate on what is teachable. How does one 'prove' history then? The requirements you're laying out would be a disaster when it comes to defining curriculum considering 'proofs' are more or less a mathematical concept.

@HoolaHoopMan: Well, if it was a mathematical phenomenon, the "proof" would be far easier.

It is however a social phenomenon, and as we know, social sciences are inherently far less rigorous with their proofs.

So maybe proof is the wrong word. Let's say at least "Strong evidence" would be as mentioned above, somewhere with a similar society implementing these teachings, and seeing a measurable reduction in hate crimes, hate speech, racially motivated crime, etc.

Maybe. There is definitely a problem here, I think we just disagree on how widespread this is being taught.

My outlook though, is to nip it in the bud before it actually grows, rather than wait until it's a bigger problem.

And hopefully it stays that way, with enough people being vigilant for its derivative principles appearing in K-12.

So Texas has an even worse understanding of CRT than the OP.

@HoolaHoopMan: Never mistake the dishonest for the ignorant. The OP may be the latter, but TX legislators are likely the former.

No, you might want to take one of those college/university courses. I'm not sure where you got those ideas! CRT would suggest the logic from your post is incorrect. You'd have to show me where it says that!

Thanks for using your own words, it doesn't tie into course material.

Video evidence says otherwise.

I suppose you're right, but at a certain point I have to wonder if these politicians truly believe the lies they spread to their constituents. We're bound to start getting more Margery Taylor Greenes and Boeberts over time

Recently i rewatched Starship Troopers. The scene where Michael Ironsides teacher character mentioned sth i never noticed before. Very odd. He says: "This year we explored the failure of democracy. How our social scientists brought our world to the brink of chaos."

A movie based on a 1959 sci fi novel.

Social Scientists. Social Quackery i find more befitting.

Apparently you just showed you don't, "white people = evil" sure as hell isn't CRT no matter how much gas lighting you and the fake news crew do.

Why do you keep mentioning fake news? Wtf are you talking about. I'm asking you to address the multiple videos in this thread. If it's not CRT then wtf is it? Stop being an NPC for a moment and answer the question.

OK so if it's not CRT then wtf is it? We have posted multiple videos at this point. It is definitely happening I can name countless examples and post video after video. So if it's not CRT what is it?

@girlusocrazy: Yea I'm sorry but you are clueless. I recently watched a video when students at a high school were given a study booklet about how America and its systems were built on white privilege for the purpose of disinfranchising minorities. That whites oppress minorities and heterosexuals oppress queer and non binary people. The fact that this is now being taught in school is what we are talking about and falls under the umbrella of CRT.

@Maroxad: Whaddoyamean? It's a rather lighthearted sci fi flick with no deeper, social critical message. A little nazi aesthetic to accentuate the evilness of military/militarism. Not much else there.
