You know you post contradicts itself and makes no sense. But then again trump fan so I expect that from you..........

No, I'm implying that the "anonymous source" could just be some NYT employee with an imagination trying to help the Resistance win in November, instead of an actual person in his administration trying to anonymously let the country know they are there fighting him on the down low.

Tin foil hat is showing. It's not. There is enough evidence there if one is impartial to know this administration is a mess and trump is't fit. You need only listen to the man himself to see this.

I said nothing about whether or not the administration is a mess. Anyone with two working eyes can see how many turnovers and controversies they have had.

I'm just throwing it out there that this so-called anonymous official could be a fake that was just timed for the midterms.

If I was really trying to protect the country from within, why would I risk blowing my cover by letting the media know? I'm going to keep everything secret as long as I can so I can continue to do my thing without being worried about being exposed.

so what if it was...

would it make any difference in the election at all whatsoever?

NO

So from a stradgey standpoint its a bit stupid.

its not like at this point in time someone is going to go 'oh my god I am changing my vote' or 'oh my god I am now going to register' pleeease.

the verdict on votes is already in.

@ad1x2

QUESTIONS:

1. If its a lie why is Trump asking the Fake news NYT to give them a source as if the name of that source would also not be untrue?

2. what is the motivation? this midterm election is not remotely close, its a lock.

Still veering into tin foil hat territory. Anyway after the Woodward book it shouldn't surprise you that yes.........people working for trump are trying to mitigate damage by the lunatic in chief.

Someone wrote an op-ed about trumpty Dumpty being an incompetent, childish, asshole, and this administration can't narrow it down to less than 50 people.

Well, excuse me for having questions about some unnamed source conveniently penning a letter 60 days prior to the midterms and during the middle of Supreme Court confirmation hearings to a media source that is not a friend of the Trump Administration. A media source that would love to see immediate effects such as derailing Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation, followed by pushing people on the fence or even on Trump's side into joining a blue wave of voting for candidates that are anti-Trump in November so that impeachment proceedings can start in January. While they probably won't have 67 votes in the Senate for removal, the threat of impeachment articles going through Congress will at a minimum seriously derail his agenda, and at most could result in his resignation. He's a billionaire, he could just resign, ride into the sunset, and enjoy the rest of his life while occasionally ranting about his replacement on Twitter unless they ban him.

Instead of doing what is the literal definition of running a Deep State, why not use whatever negative evidence you have on Trump and hand-carry it to Robert Mueller so impeachment or the 25th Amendment can be used? Sending an anonymous letter bragging that you are actively undermining the president, while risking exposing yourself, is probably not a good idea. Now everybody in the White House is trying to figure out who you are, the media definitely wants to find out who you are, and you are at the mercy of the top officials in the NYT to not reveal your identity. Bookies are even taking bets who the author is. Once they find out who you are, you are going to get fired, and you may face criminal charges on top of it.

I get that you despise Trump, but that doesn't mean that every single negative story about him is 100% true. I could be wrong and there is an active effort led by unelected officials to derail the president, but the timing is still convenient.

@LJS9502_basic: I never said that he was perfect, but it is a fair question why this story is coming out now, and why this official is supposedly trying to “save us” from behind the scenes but has to expose themself to make sure that we know how they are trying to save us. I’ve already spoke about the middle ground thing to the ire of several posters here, and I’m not trying to go down that rabbit hole again.

Yeah, it's an even bigger conspiracy now that the WJS faked an Op Ed and Woodard is a partisan hack. Its impossible to get Trump supporters to get some internal reflection to even start viewing him as being an incompetent person when all signs point to it.

What does Occam's Razor tell us now?

@ad1x2: "why would I risk blowing my cover by letting the media know?"

That right there is the non-partisan Golden Question. Why? There are two logical reasons for this. It's fake, or Democrats are as dumb as they appear.

Perfect? I'm assuming you've heard him speak.......that alone gives credence to the book and the op ed. As for the op ed coming out now.........why not? The whispers on Capitol Hill are that Congress knows these things about trump but chooses to ignore them for their own power. Perhaps this person(s) is getting desperate because the situation is getting worse.

Whether you agree with the NYT political views they aren't going to make up this op ed.

sorry but the reporter in question is Woodward, which is a big deal.

its in your best intrest to not worry about this story, it will change nothing.

Unless, he can back up his claims with actual facts, it does not matter if he is the pope himself he is a fraud.

He records his conversations dude.

And then I'm sure he will make them public. As I said until he backs his shitty book up, then it´s all conjecture

Just like when the porn stars lied about Trump having asked Cohen to pay in return for their silence. Then the tape came out...

You keep saying how convenient it is before the midterm elections, but did you miss out on these past 12 months? There has been controversy surrounding Trump on a monthly basis. Last month, the month before, the month before... That this happened 2 months before the election shouldn't be a surprise. It will happen again next month, the month after that and so forth.

People need to realize that you can criticize the president without going full resistance. I've already criticized him on several subjects.

Back to the op ed, maybe it is real, but for all we know it could be some low-level White House employee that has less than a dozen people under them, instead of a Cabinet member or the Vice President like people are saying. I don't know, you probably don't know, and it may be a while before we know, if ever.

Senator Elizabeth Warren chimed in earlier, saying that if someone feels that he is unfit, then they should step up and push for removal with the 25th Amendment instead of writing anonymous op eds. I may not agree with a lot of her views, but I agree with her there.

Most of what we've heard of Trump has turned out to be true. There's always a tape that comes out to verify it. I'm sorry but I trust The Wall Street Journal more than I do Trump.

@blackballs: Trust no one until you have the facts. Always be vigilant to that. Especially in this day and age.

The string of simillar occurances could now be being used as a weapon... and how will you actually know until this can be factually backed up? Never go on a whim, demand facts.

EDIT: It's also easier for you to demand those facts because you almost believe it, someone should want to prove it to you. If I asked, I'm just a right -wing racist. But I'm actually left of center. Funny times.

It doesn't surprise me when the media times negative news about Trump. I acknowledge the controversy, there's a lot of things the Trump Administration does that I don't agree with, and there are some things the administration does that will make most reasonable people give a silent or audible WTF. But some of the controversy seems to be timed to come out at opportune times to counter any potential positive coverage Trump is getting or to help with an upcoming election.

To this day, I ask why the media held on to the Access Hollywood tape until a month before the general election, being that it existed for eleven years at the time they released it. They could have released it during the Republican primaries, which would have most likely cost him the nomination. Maybe they held on to it as an October surprise, instead of releasing it during the Republican primaries because they thought Hillary Clinton had a better chance of defeating Trump in the general election than any other Republican candidate that stood a chance at getting the nomination. Blame the media for Trump being president instead of Hillary Clinton or Ted Cruz.

The funny thing about this forum is the people that criticize my posts just show me what I should expect in a forum that is filled with people that despise Trump and/or are on the left. If I posted the exact same way I post here on ar15.com or many other conservative websites, they would call me a far-left liberal.

When it comes to Trump I simply don't trust his administration. Okay lets talk about something:

1. Trump called Woodrufs book "a work of fiction" because he never spoke to him

2. Yesterday a tape comes out that confirms that Trump did indeed speak to him

3. Why did he lie about it?

I believe Woodruf. Not Trump. He just lied about something this week that turned out to be... a lie.

@blackballs: I did hear that phone call, and why did Trump sound so nice? And so you know, I'm also a Canadian, so an outsider looking in.

Politicians lie, first and foremost, expect it. I should introduce you to Justin Trudeau, the king of spin. You can't understand why people support you President, and I can't understand why anyone supports my Prime Minister. We in the same boat..going in opposite directions on different waterways. And for both you and I, the best course of action is to realize that the will be another election where you can vote him out of office.

I'm not sure how old you are. I'm close to 40. But that's how these democracies used to work. If your guy lost, you would take your bumps and vote again in 4 years. That was also a time when Liberals and Conservatives mainly had the same goal, working for the people. Today that's not the case, the void is larger.

In other times, Trump's lighter lies, like. "I never talked to you" would be dismissed and forgotten as "I can't believe he forgot he talked to him". Because in the end it doesn't really effect your life. The lie didn't create a policy that hurt your life. But something to remeber for the next election.

The media is caught up in gossip, not news. The internet did this to them. The 6 pm, and 11 pm news, became 24/7 news over night. There is no 24/7 news to report, so they descended into the realm of speculation, conjecture, and outright lies. Turning our media into a drunken frat house that no one can make sense of.

Words won't hurt you, actions will. What has Trump acted on that has hurt you? That's a bigger question than asking why he lies, because they all do is the only answer. This is what the media wants you caught up in. Bombard you so much with TRUTH, you'll never ask questions.

But what are the media's motives, when they only engage in high school antics of he said/she said? To get you frustrated so you fight thier war for them.

I can not fault Trump for caring as much as he does about America, and no American should. I only wish my Prime Minister show my country that kind of conviction, because he doesn't.

Get used to lies. See them for what they are, but actions are what truly matters.

If you're a conservative you love Trump, but liberals like me loath him. First off if you want to talk about action:

  • Dismantling Obama care
  • Passing tax cuts for the rich
  • Putting immigrant kids in cages
  • Ban on muslims (which eventually got changed, btw why not ban people from Saudi Arabia - you know since 85% of Saudis were responsible for 9/11)
  • Destroying enviourmental protection
  • Fighting with allies
  • Anti-abortion
  • Racist speech he's constantly spewed

I mean the list can keep going on. I don't need the media to tell me what's wrong with Trump. Also, you mention "gossip" The king of media is Trump. He's the ultimate showman. He's an act that manipulated the masses in order to get elected because Trump might not be all he says he is, but he sure is one thing - a narcissist.

And yes it does affect my life. His Supreme Court nominee which is a puppet of his is just waiting to take out Roe vs. Wade. That affects millions of women out there who won't have access to safe abortion. Wtf are we in the 18th century?

Just to point out that many people oppose trump and it's not because of the letter next to his name. He continually demonstrates he's not fit for the job. That should offend ALL Americans but alas it does not.

@blackballs: Illegal immigrants you mean. There is a difference. We have the same problem with distinction up here because people can't stop bastardizing the English language.

Other than that, fine points. Having a girlfriend who had an abortion because she was selfish..we don't need to go down that road of conversation, it leads nowhere. All I'll say is I could have kept the kid and kicked her to the curb and she could have continued to be selfish, and that kid would be breathing. (my opinion won't change there, so leave that as is.)

It's rather funny to me to see how simillar Trump and Trudeau are, our P.M. is a narcissist as well. Even he has created fights with our allies to because of his thick self adoring skull. Our last Priemer of this province told a group of collage kids that if they didn't go out and vote, some old white person might... So the racist speech comes from both sides of the fence.

You'll never like everyone on this earth, and yes there are racist in plenty of countries around the world that aren't white. Just ask my cousin who had to move back to Canada because she had a mixed race baby in South Korea. The entire world...is racist. It's not a North American phenomenon. Using that as guilt for leverage will never get us anywhere.

So we both have things we have to deal with that we don't like, but don't forget that another election will come around. I know enough about history to see a sociallist coup and revolution when I see one. If you remove Trump from office, your country WILL decend into anarchy. Vote him out like a democracy would, so we can keep our freedom in North America. Because if you fall, Canada will be right behind you. And this continent will go bakwards and dark.

EDIT: News today from Ontario, 81,000 lost part-time job in the province last month. Most likley because our last socialist government jacked the minimum wage from 11.75/h to 14/h overnight.

The goal was to help low income earners, and now 81,000 of them are out of a job. All socialism can do is destroy, destroy, destroy.

@Mikey132: and yet, more and more studies conclude that such wage hikes have minimal effects on employment numbers. Recent example: http://irle.berkeley.edu/the-new-wave-of-local-minimum-wage-policies-evidence-from-six-cities/

@mattbbpl: I'll take the reality of today, over the study of yesterday.

Furthermore, there was two realistic routes the government could have taken. First, they could have stop deducting income tax from them. Leaving them with more money. Or, they could have subsidized thier income with government money.

What they choose to do was use the profit margin of private businesses to do that. After they had alredy increased all kinds of fees, taxes, and regulations that already had smaller businesses straining to survive, then they hit them with that. Does that study cover that situation, or was it in a vacum in a perfect world?

This was also a way to increase government tax revenue because they had squandered billions after billions of dollars on pet projects that never help the economy, and they took us so far into debt we are now the worlds most indebted sub-sovereign government in the world. They in fact added more debt in 15 years than all previous governments combined since our confederation.

They ran out of other peoples money. Moody's credit downgraded our credit rating and gave us a negative economic outlook last year. Our socialist Preimer's answer to the problem. "It's not like I can't still borrow money". Surely anyone with a brain cell can see that's not the point.

Send whoever did that study up here, cause it's tune will change when actually applied to reality, and not a vacum.

We have more debt than California, and we only have 13 million people. We used to be the economic engine of this country, but the socialist made sure that did not last!

@Mikey132: It's obvious you didn't even glance at it. It's a recent study using empirical studies of six cities that recently made the change.

@mattbbpl: True, I won't deny I didn't look, I don't need to. Because situations are different, and the one they apllied it to here did not work out. Experts even forecasted 50,000 lost jobs because of it. Today we got hit with 81,000 part time jobs. the kind we expected to lose.

I can see it could work in a better finacially sustained area, but that's not the case here. One size does not fit all.

If I go a little further, the conservatives were in power in this porvince from 1948-1985. They are the ones who built this province into a econiomic powerhouse. From 1985-2003 it went back and forth between liberals and conservative. From 2003 until June of this year the Liberals were in power. That's where all the damage to this economy can from.

We used to send transfer payments to other provinces, now we receive them, from 4 million Albertains and thier oil, which our Federal Government is doing a fantastic job of killing as we speak. The biggest province in the country is now on welfare.

@blackballs: I want Trudeau out of office as well, but you have to remember that this is what people voted for. I know the feeling of the other guy won, it's my everyday as well. But we're not launching all out assaults on our highest office everyday. We're waiting for next October to vote again and hope to jeepers we send this interloper packing.

What do we have without some kind of respected process? Anarchy and oppression, it's as simple as that.

Immigrants of today are not like the immigrants of yesterday. This is a different world, and that's just how it is.

Nonsense. America was founded by the 13 colonists who settled in an uncivilised country with no laws or borders and managed to create the greatest nation in the world.

Also considering the state of Mexico and South America, it´s kinda puzzling to see that America has thrived and become a superpower, while the other places run by these "immigrants" have turned out to be places they don´t want to live.

Just like when the porn stars lied about Trump having asked Cohen to pay in return for their silence. Then the tape came out...

Actually, the tape was discussing buying the story back from the National enquire, not paying the playboy model for her silence.

What is your point? are you claiming that Trump is the source of the book? or that somehow makes it ok that the actual tapes of the people saying what they are being claimed to have said have not been released?

He needs to release the tapes to back up his claims.

I think the reason the Right is so obsessed with the question of 'releasing' has less to do with what they claim and more to do with the fact that they do not know who this person is and they want to.

becuase they have to think what would happen to them if the tapes ARE released. its a bit of 'careful what you ask for'. but I think they know they will not becuase that would break the agreement the journalists have with the source. but if they (the Right) are not careful and if they push too hard they might actually get what they are asking for and I am not sure that is in their best intrest

Unlike the Rights Boss (Putin) they do not think several steps ahead. I am sure Putin would perfer if they did

I listed every thing he's done that is unbecoming the president of the US. He will stand in history as the worst US president of all time. He makes GWB look good.

We don't democratically elect presidents. The EC elects the president.

Also considering the state of Mexico and South America, it´s kinda puzzling to see that America has thrived and become a superpower, while the other places run by these "immigrants" have turned out to be places they don´t want to live.

I'm guessing you're right-wing and white? No point in talking about immigration with you. Your European ancestors are some of the most vile and sickening human beings to grace this planet. What they did to the natives god will forever frown upon. Sadly, it seems like the Republican Party is a reincarnation of those people.

@tryit: You do a disservice to us all when you use left/right. I am center left and want to know who it was, and I want to see the proof.

That is not jouralism, it's pyshcological warfare.

And with that comment, you become what you claim to hate.

Life is a two-way street my friend.

this is not the time in our political history to give weight and fairness to those who are literally working with Russians to try and destroy this country.

so you cant take your concerns of disservice and stick it frankly, I understand Russia has a lot of positive things but I am an American and I am sticking to it

well that is not fair, I am more loyal to truth then I am being an American but never the less still worth saying, this is serious time

and you claim to be a moderate, I claim you are liying. so take that back to the testing committy

@tryit: And if you were loyal to truth, you'd demand proof of the whole Russian collusion fiasco. And who wrote the letter ..but you don't.

You readily agree with the narritive on the basis that you don't like Trump in the first place.

If only liberal education didn't produce such reactionary emotional beings we wouldn't be in this mess. You are being dupped, and lead to slaughter by the socialist revolution that is using you as a pawn. That is the truth.

you need to go back and read what I said.

I did not say the journalists should not release the name.

I illustrated that the Right asking for this is clearly NOT in their best intrest, so why are they asking for it?

the Right is completley and totally 100% amoral and corrupt...PEROID. anything they say or do is becuase of a politcal agenda on their side, not looking at their ask with that fact on your lense is being stupid. So why would they ask for something that if they got it would be WORSE for them? because they know legally the journalists can not do it that is why. that and they are so fucked up and disorganized they cant even figure out who it is within their own party

They are asking for a reason and its NOT one of out nobility. postive of that.

and you are not a moderate, I was able to tell that within your first response to me.
