Obama brags: 'I didn't have scandals' during my presidency

Former President Obama jokingly bragged about his administration at a tech conference in Las Vegas, saying he did not have scandals during his presidency.

"And there wasn't any malicious intent, which is why I didn't have scandals, which seems like it shouldn't be something you brag about," Obama joked at the conference hosted by identity security company Okta on Wednesday. "But actually, if you look at the history of the modern presidency, coming out of the modern presidency without anybody going to jail is really good. It's a big deal."

Obama also discussed his decisionmaking process during his administration, recalling how it was important for him to listen to advisers with differing views.

The former president said it was important to listen to opinions from "people who can argue all the sides."

"Part of the way I was able to ensure people were not telling me just what I want to hear was to deliberately reach outside the bubble of the obvious decisionmakers," he said.

Obama has bragged in the past that his administration did not have any major scandals.

"We didn't have a scandal that embarrassed us," the former president said earlier this year. "I know that seems like a low bar."

Republicans see things differently. They point to multiple controversies during Obama's time in office, including the "Fast and Furious" gunwalking operation, which allowed criminals to purchase guns in order to track them into Mexico, and the IRS scandal involving the agency's increase scrutiny of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.

Obama's comments come as President Trump faces a slew of controversies, including the federal probe into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election and the hush-money payment his lawyer, Michael Cohen, made to an adult-film star.

I'm not going to sugarcoat the Obama Administration. I thought his administration did a decent job but, at the same time, committed questionable acts. He was, afterall, a center-left president and not the liberal icon that we envisioned or the liberal monster that conservatives feared.

yeah, the things I took issue with him people on the right havent even conceptualized.

For example,

1.Health Insurance not being a single payer and instead a requirement for people to buy from a private insurance company is really scary to me.

2. I was uncomfortable with printing money to solve an economic crises but it appears to have worked

His admin just played it straight is all. The same Hillary would have done. Keep the shady in the shade and if it gets too bright, just move the media's attention elsewhere. People grab headlines then they forget, the entire public forgets and the memory gets shorter and more irrelevant as social media tries to flood everyone with more and more "hey look at me" headlines.

Thing about scandals is that people in general, love gossip and eat this stuff up. It's a huge money maker for most everyone involved usually. Marilyn Manson wouldn't be jack if he didn't rely on shock. Hence where the term shock value comes in because it's highly valuable.

Fast and Furious was under Obama. Gun Walker took place under Bush. Under Bush no guns went to Mexico and no one got killed as happened under Obama's Fast and Furious.

Hillary's email happened on his watch with his approval and knowledge.

Obamacare again took place on his watch with him his full support. He illegally changed it 30 times. Democrats has to be bought off with tax payer money to get enough votes for it to pass. Besides being an absolute terrible bill.

IRS Again this happened under Obama's watch with his approval, as it supported his 2012 re-election campaign.

His apology tour was not diplomacy it was blaming the United States for everything wrong in the world. Besides things only got worse.

How about bombing 7 different countries?
How about murdering a 16 year old, whose only "crime" was having the wrong father?
How about declaring war on whistleblowers? And his mistreatment of Edward Snowden?
How about expanding NSA spying, Violating the constitution?

All of these are way worse than anything involving trump's affairs.

Those aren't scandals just policies you disagree with. They would be the same, if not worse under Trump.
