This shows you how hot things were when you were born vs how hot they are now and how hot you can expect it to be when you're 80.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/30/climate/how-much-hotter-is-your-hometown.html

My hometown of Evansville Indiana could be expected to reach at least 90 degrees 35 days a year when I was born, 44 days a year today, and is expected to be 74 days a year when I'm in my 80s.

What does it say about your home town?

"Your hometown is not prone to 90-degree days"

Oh, really? Why don't you come say that to my face, New York Times. I'll shove you face-first onto the sidewalk and hold you down on there while you fry.

My hometown isn't on there but I played with other big cities and the numbers are worrying.

Paywall

And I'm not paying for something like that.

@Serraph105: Southeast Louisiana is projected to be underwater. Does that mean it will be cooler?

Numbers are BS. I'm from Toronto, and the number of days above 90F the last few years were around 10 or so. This year there's been around 20. It definitely is hotter now than it was when I was a kid. The tool estimates 1 day an year ...that's a damn joke. If it were 1 day an year above 90 that would be a freaking miracle. Agreed with the poster above, I'd love to take these scientists head and shove it into the boiling sidewalk.

@Serraph105: I think you get a certain amount of articles per week. When I Google "news", it's almost always comes up with NYT articles, so I've probably used my free ones up for the week.

Regarding the paywall, NYT gives you a certain ammount of free articles per week. And this one counts among them it seems.

Sadly, it didnt show the results for any swedish city I could think of. So it was practically useless for me, did one for New York however and it was concerning.

Hmm, well no such luck checking out my own home city since we are not prone to 30°C+ days apparently. Who knew. ?

I did check out Valencia, Spain though since I've got family there, and wow! An increase from at least 44 days of over 32°C, to 60 days since 1992.

Statistics vs single years.

Yes........and no. One can spin statistics to be favorable but one can plug numbers in and get accurate results.

In this case, it only says you're only unlikely to have any 90+ days.

That is a 10% increase...

Also, if you look at temperature increase, it tends to be much higher in colder areas than warmer ones.

I live in Michigan, one of the most far north states in the country.
