@joshrmeyer: Kaepernick was adopted. If it isn’t obvious that he’s a black man I don’t really know what to say there. Pointing out your racist comments doesn’t make me racist - that’s a classic tactic from racists to deflect their racism. I am not surprised you are doubling down instead of admitting your mistake. Sad.
As to why it matters that they are black... Do you even know what they are protesting? They are protesting police brutality on black Americans. Obviously it’s going to be vast majority black players protesting that. How is this so hard to grasp for you?
You are right they are protesting at work. But so what? No one has explained why their place of employment is inappropriate or “the wrong time” for that. Why is an anthem performance during an NFL game more important than the message and what they are protesting? You are exactly right that they have a platform as NFL players and Kaepernick used his on the sidelines during the anthem and it worked.
Frankly, it is obvious to me you don’t actually care about what Kaepernick was protesting. Fair enough, but at least be honest about it instead of masking your true belief in garbage like “it’s not the right way”! In America, the “right way” of protesting, particularly from black Americans, is not at all.
