President Donald Trump declared "mission accomplished" on Saturday after the U.S.-led predawn airstrikes in Syria dealt what Pentagon officials called a "very serious blow" at "the heart of the Syrian chemical weapons program."

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/syria-airstrikes-trump-declares-mission-accomplished-after-hitting-weapons-targets-n866001

This inspires such strong deja vu that it had to have been intentional, right?

Unless trump is calling this the end of combat operations against ISIS, this displays some serious mental gymnastics. trump didn't pull a Bush. trump called a mission to destroy chemical production and storage facilities accomplished after the strikes were successful absent loses.

I dont think trump was all that interested in doing much in Syria. I think the missle strikes were done just to satisfy the public outrage over syria gassing their own civilians, but he has no plans to do more. He also hates the bush family, so it may have been a taunt to them.

With John Bolton in the house, Scooter Libby a free man, financial market regulation rolled back, and now the Team America routine in Syria... I think Trump has Made America 2002 Again =(

Not much of a mission accomplished when the place was evacuated along with a missile defense placed to shoot down any inbounding missiles.

He was very against Obama doing anything in Syria at least. So we will see.

What outrage? I must not be paying attention because it doesn't seem like a majority of Americans gave damn about those attacks...

Jet fuel doesn't melt steel beams eh?

Less than 30% of missiles reaching the target and the facility back in operation 12 hours later is totally destroyed?

USA told the Russians and syrians what they were targeting, facility was evacuated and shored up.

this attack was an expensive farce for trump to save face

Where do you get the 30% from? All I read is conflicting on this.

It's coming from the amateur journalists in Damascus and Russia.

Pentagon says they hit every target while Russia says the opposite. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/apr/14/russia-claims-syria-air-defences-shot-down-majority-missiles

If by "mission accomplished" he means "another decade of outright war, a few thousand needless American deaths, countless non-American deaths, and then followed by on-again off-again conflicts that might as be war"...then sure, mission accomplished.

Deja vu, indeed....

Every target being hit, and every missile reaching it's target are two totally separate things.

Well. Mission success if they still managed to destroy what they were out to destroy.

And that is very different from saying all missiles hit a target.

I hope you can see that
