German Politician Frank Magnitz Severely Injured in 'Assassination Attempt'

A far-right German politician has been left for dead in brutal attack, his party has said.

Frank Magnitz, chairman of Germany’s AfD party, was badly beaten by three alleged assailants on Monday.

He is believed to have been jumped after leaving a New Year's reception in Frankfurt's Goethe Square.

Graphic images posted on the AfD Bremen Facebook page showed Magnitz lying in a hospital bed with a gaping head wound.

Describing the attack as a 'politically-motivated attempted assassination', the AfD said Magnitz was knocked unconscious and suffered a number of blows to the head.

He was reportedly saved after a builder intervened and chased off the three suspects, who remain at large.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition, a party spokesman said.

They added: "Today is a black day for democracy in Germany."

I think Germany might be headed towards civil war if this starts to become a common occurrence. It's also sad to see that a lot of people in the comment section are stating that he deserves this.

meh, nobody should go into a civil war over some snake politician. Any time a politician who gets their due, you can think of it as a win. Unless the politician doesn't take handouts or corporate 'donations', then I say a beating is warranted.

First, communism isn't exactly evil. Nazism is. There are no reasons to beat up a communist. There are lots of reasons why one might want to beat up a nazi. We actually have communist and socialist parties and politicians here in the US, and I don't see them getting their ass beat (well, politically they do get beat...)

I also never said it's OK, I think what I said was "at least it happened to someone that deserved it." That might be too fine a line for you--as you seem to be someone who only hears what they want to hear--but none the less I never said we should go out nazi hunting.

The communism body count is fairly high. Though they like to kill their own people. I'm sure they are just killing the evil nazi's though, so it was all good, right?

They, the AfD, has a secret support from the Russian government. Russia has been supporting these right wing parties throughout europe. Russia wants it's east Germany back.

@Celsius765: not sure, but my point is that 99.9% of politicians, on all sides of the aisle deserve a good wooping.

Though again, I don't condone violence but some folk made their bed. Politicians are some of those parasite leeches that when they get some karma, nobody will or should lose sleep over it.
