Inspired by Rabbit's thread, I thought you might enjoy this article on the uglier side of Christianity.

For only $45 you can establish a “point of contact” with God via a gold-plated coin engraved with President Trump and King Cyrus’ faces — according to the “Jim Bakker Show” at least.

The coin is being peddled by Lance Wallnau, who claims God told him people need it to pray for Trump.

“When I asked the Lord, ‘Why the coin?’ he said ‘Because when you take the coin, it’s a point of contact,’” Wallnau said in the recording. “So your faith is being released with a million other believers to pray protection and peace and wisdom and counsel over the president of the United States and over his family.”

https://www.aol.com/article/news/2019/05/16/televangelist-jim-bakker-sells-dollar45-trump-coin-calls-it-point-of-contact-with-god/23727628/

The prosperity theology subset of this religion can't die soon enough.

Huh... In not sure if the title was an autocorrect, a typo, or a Freudian slip, but it was unintentional.

Christianity is silly sometimes

Islam is even more silly

Not my cup of tea but if someone gets something out of it, good for them.

Roffl! Christians selling idolatry! The evangelical right is a parody. Maybe, we should call them trans-Christian. Its what they identify as, even if they have no understanding of the source material.

That is actually hilarious but also pretty horrible that someone sets up a scam like that and take advantage of people.

Giving to Caesar what is Caesar's, which is obviously their backwater sub-cult.

@mandzilla: Bigger than it should be, but not mainstream. A 2006 figure placed it at under 20 percent of US Christians.

That's still a lot of money on the table for scammers to bilk.

@mattbbpl: Ah okay I see, not so widespread then but still scammers gonna scam.

Reminds me of that priest who asked his congregation for a private jet so he could be closer to god or something lol.

@horgen: For another $45, you can also buy a MAGA hat. It will go great with your crucifix.

Depends on what you mean by Faith

If you include all the fake religions like Scientology and the various other it´s a multi-billion industry a year

Watch his show if you want a good laugh. Him being a jackass is a given but compared to his lackies on stage or the zombies in the crowd I don't know who is worse. I was always under the assumption preachers, well, preach. He, on the other hand, spends more time selling over-priced junk than anything else. He sells dehydrated food with the apparent upcoming rapture but what about the H2O needed to re-hydrate the food? People won't have food but the faucets will still work? He is a fraud 100 times over.
