Pathetic!!! what the f##k is wrong with these people?

"Getting death threats for me and my family and harassing my daughters to the point where I have to get security is just, I mean, it's amazing," Fauci said.

"I wouldn't have imagined in my wildest dreams that people who object to things that are pure public health principles are so set against it, and don't like what you and I say, namely in the word of science, that they actually threaten you. I mean, that to me is just strange," Fauci said.

It's the new norm with internet anonymity. People who doom-scroll and get this unhealthy "righteous anger" and then use that as a catalyst to speak out at literally everyone who doesn't showcase the same extreme views. A daughter of a fallen officer for goodness sakes received nasty vitriol/hate when she posted about her fallen father on Twitter.

@Xabiss: Stop apologizing for this! There is no justifying a health professional getting deaths threats from right wings nuts for telling the truth! The right has gone off the rails crazy recently, it’s not enough to vote Trump out, ALL right wingers need to be voted and kept out!

That last part is extremely fascist thing to say. The left is not always right and they don't always do what is best. Also not all right wing politicians are bad. That statement just makes you one of the left wackos I am talking about.

He did say vote them out, not barr right wingers from voting. Which is closer to the tactics used by current right wing to keep left wing voters from voting.

And through voting you usually don’t end up with a purely one sided government, however you could if voting is suppressed.

Yup.

Not sure how we respond to it. I feel like 99.99% of the time it's in jest (but in horrible, horrible tastes), and yet....a threat is a threat.

Yes, they do. I agree with you that both sides are nuts. Normally I try to see the positives and negatives in both sides, but every now and then one side legitimately is the "bad guy". That's Trump. Trump is the bad guy.

Are his supporters necessarily "bad"? No. But they are ignorant, naive, or any other combination of negative and enabling.

They also refuse to be anything but blindly optimistic; if the consequences of this weren't felt by everyone, that'd be fine, but sometimes you gotta realize the world is a shitty place and blindly believing in something to the bitter end won't get you anywhere but the bitter end. It won't make the world less shitty.

My buddy is like this. When it was Bush Jr. it was like "Man, people give him a hard time. I bet he is a good guy to get a beer with. 9/11 was a curveball we gotta give him a chance". With Trump it's like "Oh well he did do this *insert random and obscure good thing* and no one acknowledges that". I mean like I said that kind of faith in something is fine when it only concerns you but you're propping this thing up as leader of the country, so get real for a second.

It's essentially party loyalty to the point of being a faith that keeps a person like Trump going, and the GOP are very, very, very loyal/faithful.

Problem of society and exists across the political spectrum,. Unfortunately, you currently have a horrible troll in charge who encourages this exact behavior precisely because he is the same type of nutjob as these freaks of society.

It is not actually a political spectrum thing, it is a personality/behavior disorder. There are lots of fringe freaks out there and when politicians and media give them voice, or worse when they discover they can make money off of it, you are going to create an ecosystem that is self sustaining.

Imagine sending death threats to someone who's really nice and doing his best to help save lives despite some ridiculous workplace stress from a horrible boss who wishes he could fire you for being competent. Now imagine not just sending them to him, but his whole family.

Just imagine being that garbage of a person.

@horgen: Thank you. I want them voted out legally not barred from running or voting. But based on who we are dealing with, it’s no shock it was purposely taken out of context.

Funny he denies voter suppression that is happening in broad daylight, when will people wake up?

Sad that so many people only care about themselves and will attack anyone who suggests the better solution is something which benefits everyone. It's a mindset which will ultimately be mankinds undoing.

Sorry I just believe all voting should be in person. I believe voting should require ID to prove you are the person you say you are. We require ID for all kinds of things and I see no issue requiring it for someone to vote. An ID/DL is valuable for everyone to have now since it is required for flying. I have never heard ID/DL is suppressing poor people from traveling, but hell maybe you all say that also. Now I do believe the cost to receive an ID card should be just enough to cover the creation of the card and nothing more. That ID card should stay good for 10 years. Sorry if you can't figure out how to get it renewed it seriously isn't that hard.

I do not believe in mail in ballots and think voting should always be done in person. Now if you are military or a special circumstance I think those ballots are okay, but the major majority of voting should be in person. Mail in ballots have always had issues of not knowing who is actual doing the voting. Also ballots can and do get lost in the mail. There was a recent news story about this where they tested our mail services and I wouldn't trust them with my vote.

I also believe that all states should have required 2 weeks early voting before the election day and those polls should stay open from 8am-8pm each and every day. If you can't figure out how to get your vote done in 15 days you probably were not going to vote anyway.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-19-vote-by-mail-ballot-counted-election/

Also New York currently has a CF on its hands with mail in ballots from the last election they had.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/how-to-avoid-a-new-york-level-election-disaster/2020/08/07/3608c8fe-d75e-11ea-9c3b-dfc394c03988_story.html

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/03/nyregion/nyc-mail-ballots-voting.html

Sorry no voting system will ever be perfect, but I do believe an in person voting system is the only way to go. Also voting suppression could happen with mail in ballots also if they get lost, or if someone votes for you. Trust me I know plenty of people that would take their wives voting card and make sure they voted the way the man of the house would want them to. I think the anonymity is important for everyone's vote in a voting booth.

And they are not right in what they are doing just like the left side loons burning down buildings, looting buildings, shooting people, shooting lasers in peoples eyes, just to name a few things during these protest/riots we have had. Both sides have extreme people in it and if you think only one side does you are part of the problem. Never justify one side doing something is okay because the other is doing it when it comes to illegal activity. Both are wrong period.

Dude stop with the whataboutism. Idiotic mentalities like those just stops any real conversation from happening.

Just like Terrorism and fanatacism does exist within all religions, but Islam has the biggest problem of it. Especially with Wahhabism and Salafism being a thing.

Ignoring that there are large numerical differences in the number of incidents perpetrated by one side over the other is willful stupidity.

It's equivalent to them sticking their heads in the sand. If they tell themselves both sides are exactly the same they feel no guilt for blindly supporting a mentality which is extremely damaging.

Yep, the ever growing power of anti-intellectualism in the world is very worrying and worst of all, they are currently in power in the USA with every chance it will continue.

There is a time and place for everything. What you are doing right now however, is little more than a deflection.

And no, what you are doing is whataboutism, a well known soviet propaganda technique and logical fallacy.

Sorry but you are gonna have to work on your dishonesty. Because no one is falling for it. In fact, your continous apologetics for the right continue to end up backfiring. Only making the people you are CLEARLY trying to make excuses for and defend look bad.

Stop making the right look bad. With your horrible arguments.

Soviet style propaganda. Roflmao you can't make this crap up people. Seriously calling out the bad people on both sides is now wrong. This what the left that's become. I just don't get it anymore. The left justifies there violence and illegal behavior because some extreme right crazies have done something. Wrong is wrong and that is fact.

It's denial.

It is absolutely hilarious that I am calling out bad people on both sides and you are arguing with me about that. I am literally calling out bad people on both sides and saying all of it needs to stop and you all are not only arguing that fact, but justifying anything the left is doing wrong by saying well the right does it more. Seriously this is the times we live in and it is sad.

Also how am I denying anything if I claim BOTH sides need to stop the nonsense. Actually the people with denial are the ones arguing with me right now. Also show me in the story where it is just people from the right doing this to Fauci and his family or are you all generalizing again. We can assume this, but we do not know this as fact.

@Xabiss: You're placing the blame 50/50 split, when that is not the case. Did you read the link that someone posted here before?

Between 1994 and 2020, there were 893 terrorist attacks and plots in the United States. Overall, right-wing terrorists perpetrated the majority—57 percent—of all attacks and plots during this period, compared to 25 percent committed by left-wing terrorists, 15 percent by religious terrorists, 3 percent by ethnonationalists, and 0.7 percent by terrorists with other motives.

Over twice as much done by right-wing compared to left-wing. In terms of death count it is 335 against 22.

Keep arguing the fact that any violence from either side is wrong. That is all I am saying and you are arguing with me. You sir are part of the problem. The violence that is going on in the protest is not even counted as terrorist attacks most violence isn't.

Right now BOTH sides have extremist and any violence going on is wrong and counter productive. That is a fact, but keep defending it I know what type of person you really are.

One bad left wingers equals 20 bad right wingers. That's just common sense man. :P

With this statement you are literally saying any violence from the left is okay because the right does it more. Seriously how sick of a statement is this. Such a sad state we are in with our country when people seriously think like this.

Truth hurts! Also we have no idea the people sending him these threats. We can assume and that assumption might be correct, but people will do things to make either side look bad right now. Just look at Smollett. Until we know the actual people behind these attacks maybe we just shouldn't assume.

Funny because you all keep defending the left being so violent right now, but you know the right has been violent so that is okay. Right?

I'm not gonna bother with the usual deflection coming from your part (like WTF does Smollett have to do with any of this thread), so let me just say:

The problem with America right now is exactly people like you. Fence sitters and trump puppets that are very deliberately turning a blind eye to the GOP and the right screwing the US in every way possible, rushing at a moment's notice to blame the left about everything each time the right is exposed for how awful they are. Your "both sides" crap is disingenuous from the get go cause all you do is hurl attacks on the left for standing up to bullshit. Let me repeat: YOU are the problem.

Like, you have to be a special kind of person to believe that, out of the right, a faction traditionally associated with anti-vaxxers, science skeptics, conspiracy theorists, reopen-america protesters and people who think wearing masks is a globalist totalitarian measure, and out of the left, a faction traditionally NOT associated with any of these, it's a "mystery" as to what group of people would harass Fauci and his family.

ROFL you have tried to justify it several times in this thread and even made excuses for it. So please stop! You are arguing the fact that I am saying both sides need to knock it off. I mean seriously?!?

Smollett was an example of the left trying to do something to make the right look bad. Until I see proof I will not just jump to conclusions. The left has been caught several times doing crap like this to make the right look bad. Now I know the right has done the same thing, but until there is actual proof it was all right wingers doing this it is not good just jump to conclusions. So right now all of this is speculation and assumptions.

BTW you are wrong about me I don't support Trump and will not vote for him so stop with your false narratives about me. How did I turn any blind eye I said the violence needs to stop on BOTH sides? You all are actually arguing with me about stopping all violence and it is absolutely hilarious.

And no you are 100% of the problem with America. No one should be voting Republican or Democrat. We need a huge change in politics across the board. If you can't see it then you are part of the problem.

It always amazes me how far people will go to cling to notion that both major parties are equal.

Because they are. There needs to be a revamp to our political system because it is not working. Our government is corrupt to the core and we need a huge change.

Let's examine. For simplicity and focus, lLet's restrict ourselves to the topic and numbers you were discussing with Horgen which were the topic of your equivalence:

Still equal?
