"BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union and Japan concluded negotiations on a free trade deal to create the world’s largest open economic area, signaling their rejection of the more protectionist stance of U.S. President Donald Trump."

Ouch. So the EU and Japan make a free trade deal making up more than a third of the worlds GDP to promote jobs, competition , and cheaper prices for consumers.

Meanwhile, in the US, Trump is putting up tariffs to artificially promote jobs by off-putting the cost to the american consumer,. Great job Trump.

Hmm, good for Japan and hopefully EU.

But this does not change anything about the facts that trade with China and Mexico are unfair and done on disadvantageous terms.

And it does not change the fact that trump's tariffs will end up hurting the US.

The US was in a very unique position at the start of Trumps presidency to position the US as the centre of world trade. Instead Trump opts for dick waving. I just find it funny that everything US presidents have built up over the decades could be eroded so fast. Who could have thunk it?

You know this wouldn't have happened if Japan had put Belgium out of the World Cup!

Being a part of the world's largest free trade agreement is too mainstream for brexit UK.

It's not that much of a defeat for Trump. With his bet on coal the US won't need Japan to buy parts for their steam machines.
