Election Night 2021: Youngkin (R) beats McAuliffe (D) in Virginia, Murphy (D) bearly beats Ciattarelli (R) in NJ.

Bottom line is this, progressives aren't winners. Most democrats are moderate. Progressives are just louder.

The democrats better go back to real liberal ideas and remember their base. The progressives are going to kill their own party from within with all of this virtue signal and woke political agenda. There are real issues that the moderate democrats stand for that moderate republicans would agree with.

Fun political fact, most voters are moderate on both sides.

@girlusocrazy: Regardless of whether or not you feel the CRT boogeyman is real or justified, the fact of the matter is, Terry said some stuff that rightfully enraged many parents. Anyone who is not a parent will never understand this.

So no, it's not "fake news" when a governor is outed for holding the belief that parents aren't entitled to have a say in their own children's education.

Democrats are selling identity politics, woke ideas, and virtue signalling. Republicans sell the fear of letting those politics become part of everyday life.

Everyone is selling something.

Is it really hard to sell a fair tax plan that doesn't kill the middle class, a real plan for climate change, produce jobs, and curb inflation?

It is "us" vs "them". Just awful.

@LJS9502_basic: You don't let them define the curriculum wholesale, no. But you also don't tell them something that boils down to "parents shouldn't have a say in what their kids are taught". Unless you want to instantly alienate a big portion of your voter base who are parents.

@eoten: Agreed. The culture wars is so boring. Democrats should focus on issues that affect most people.

  • The environment
  • Universal Healthcare
  • Infrastructure Spending
  • Urban Planning
  • Homelessness
  • Social Mobility

@girlusocrazy:

Right, but "whiteness" here doesn't mean a person being white, it refers to the normalization of the concept of a defacto culture, and having to align with that culture in order to proceed in your own life.

There's the first problem right there. Who got together and agreed that this is what "whiteness" means for everyone else?

Just because everyone in ones little social media bubble agrees, that the term whiteness has this new shiny definition does not mean everyone agrees. Yet you're proceeding as though this is a foregone conclusion for everyone.

@silentchief: I don't see where they said skin color was a privilege. What do you mean by "own up to your cultural history"? I'm sorry but I pointed out a discrepancy and I disagree that it is 100% correct. What is the correct label for that stuff in the article? Fake news I guess?

What is the label for such resistance in this day and age?

Raise awareness of whiteness and privilege is literally the first bullet point.

Not sure how you don't see that.

Right, but "whiteness" here doesn't mean a person being white, it refers to the normalization of the concept of a defacto culture, and having to align with that culture in order to proceed in your own life. There is no defacto culture, so raise awareness of that, and aligning with another culture shouldn't be required to proceed with your own life. You should be able to be yourself and succeed on your own merits.

By your interpretation but what does that really mean?

It identifies standard American values as racist and a product of whiteness. To link standard parts of American culture that are generally positive and act like they are only created to get white people ahead thus they may must be eliminated. Those teachings have negative real world consequences and lead to batshit insane assertions such as the following.

I think it would be a mistake to reduce Youngkin's win in Virginia and their good night overall, to just Critical Race Theory.

All of that is kind of a side distraction from the fact that McAuliffe essentially said parents really shouldn't have a say in what is taught to their children. THAT is what lost him the election.

The little stunt where some "white supremacists" posed in front of Youngkin's bus really didn't help either.

McAuliffe said a few homer-esque things but that's because I'd guess the democrats took Virginia for granted and expected an easy victory.

Yeah, Critical Race Theory is pretty irrelevent these days. There is some fearmongering over it, but it really wasnt it

Democrats not doing enough
Unclear messaging
Poor prioritization

All arguably contributed far more than anything else.

That stuff is actually really common.

Creationist teachers pushing Christianity to undermine evolution.

However, I wouldnt call it a particularly big deal, not one big enough to make a huge political issue from. As it is far too rare, and more of a rare fringe case rather than a systemic issue.

We also have tonnes of anecdotes of southern sympathetic teachers seriously downplaying slavery. But again, there are far bigger issues than this.

Makes sense. When I had an obnoxious teacher, who was clearly pushing her politics on us, I was pissed, EVEN if I agreed with her. That said, as far as I am concerned, stuff like this is more of a Local Political level than a statewide.

On a sidenote, were you able to read the text? The first one I took was pretty bad, my apologies. So I found a better pic and put it in the edit.

I don't think i am. I saw it in course material of my 16 year old niece when i went to visit family who lives in Alabama. If it's there( a deep red state) i would expect it to be pretty common.

When multi billion dollar companies like Disney, Bank of America, Nike, Under Armor and Lowes are teaching it to employees we are past the point of this being a rare occurrence.

Funny, none of them seem to have resigned in the name of diversity to let someone underprivileged have their job.

@silentchief: Why do that when I could read alarmist fake news and blogs and get outraged?

Those courses have been taught for decades but when the fake news told us to be alarmed...

...and now look at all that buzzing!

In elementary schools and multi billion dollar corporations?

Hate to tell you but i noticed it for before Fox was talking about it. Good to see others noticing it as well.
