With the youth movement coming on strong the last couple of weeks (even my small hometown of 50,000 people has a youth movement of over 300 kids that sprung up in a little over a week) how long will it take for conservatives to start talk of upping the voting age to 21?

The youth movement definitely favors the left. Conservatives are already viciously attacking the Florida shooting survivors and trump is using the victims in fund raising campaigns.

Conservatives are feeling the crunch as most of the kids across the country will be able to vote by November and all of them will be able to vote by 2020.

They have spent 50 years trying to suppress the black vote. Are desperate to suppress the Latino vote. Now they have an energized youth that has traditionally been a non factor due to their usual apathetic attitude.

So whe will we see the push for a 21 voting age? Before or after the midterms?

That would be a very hard sell. I can't imagine that actually occurring.

It wouldn't be a surprise since Republicans are the scum of the earth.

I suggest you google "raise the voting age" and you'll see articles and pundits make the argument, especially after the Florida shootings. But that'll be too much work for the average cuckservative so here you go: LINK

I know, maybe I should put a trigger warning for you but sometimes snowflakes need to accept new facts once and awhile.

I think the age to drink and the age to join the military should be the same. If that's raising one, or lowering the other.

@n64dd: I don’t disagree.

If the orange one’s push for a raise to 21 to purchase firearms gains traction than the age to join the military should do the same.

No. That just makes more unemployed people. You cannot take an avenue away from individuals to have a job. SMH you don't think your arguments through do you?

Do you mean a push from sources where it might actually make a difference? because then it´s never.

If you mean from crazy town sources, well who knows and who cares.

Kids may think they are moving but when it comes down to it, most are too busy with Facebook and Instagram and finding out what Jenner is doing when it comes down to it, and the kids who do actually vote are not enough to make any noticeable difference. So it would not make a difference if it´s moved to 21

But I know what you are after and darn for biting on your fishing attempt.

Then lower the drinking age. If you can die for your country, you should be able to have a beer.

Add something to a conversation for once instead of taking one small part of a conversation, taking it out of context then leaving the thread.

Wouldn't this hit colleges (or should I say those who loan money to people attending college) pretty hard? Suddenly parents with maybe different interests have to sign those papers on a student loan.

And a whole list of other issues arises as well I guess. Sincerely hope this is not brought up.

@Jacanuk: hahahaha. Do you charge for your crystal ball? We haven’t even had an election yet.

But keep banking on that apathy. It’s the laziest solution, so not surprising you would pick it.

Only in America do we argue that 18 year olds shouldn't vote because they can't drink but they can be charged as adults because "they knew what they're doing."

19 for voting

19 for drinking

19 for joining the military

21 for guns (can use at 19 or 20 in the military, incentive to join?)

----------------------

16 for driving

16 for national age of consent

"Old enough to drive, old enough to dive". But too young for me. 25 and older.

If these children were not leaning onto one specific ideology, they wouldn't be given any credence. Regardless of which position they hold, they are still kids who don't know nearly as much as they believe. Children think they know more than anyone. We all did at their ages but as we matured we learned otherwise.

Children are much more concerned about the latest Hollyweird craze or celeb making the nightly news than other matters.

@comp_atkins: I don't either. And it would buy the party a mere three year reprieve - less than a full election cycle.

There are less risky avenues that offer greater benefits.

@vfighter said:

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: yes.

The problem with the left is that they use to be the hippy / peaceful group and those days are long gone since now they are much more violent than conservatives. We have leftist radicals like Black Lives Matters, Antifa, and third wave feminists who often resort to violence because they think that them being offended gives them justification to cause violence and start riots. Americans are absolutely sick of political correctness, affirmative action, social justice and the victim hood culture which was all created by the left. This is pretty much the main reason why Donald Trump won the election. Obama was one of the worst Democratic presidents in recent memory and Hillary Clinton was one of the worst presidential candidates of all time- anyone who disputes this is VERY light on facts and firmly has their head up their ass. Young liberals are taught nothing but stupidity: they are taught that everyone is a victim, that words can hurt you, that there is a gender pay gap because America is sexist, that America is predominately a racist place, that killing a baby is justified if there is a burden on the mother, that there is a pro rape culture in America, that white privilege exists, that socialism (real socialism) is great, that a man can become a women simply by surgery and to top it all off they like to shit all over the 1st amendment by shutting down free speech.

It doesn't matter if you are liberal or conservative, as long as you are on the side of truth and justice, but leftism has created some of the most morally inept ideals in modern America. When people tell me they are liberal I simply ask them why because they support some truly evil philosophies.

You should only be able to vote if you're in the age range of 30-70.

They're just postponing the inevitable. The Republican Party is dying off. Literally. Their voter base is getting old, dying, and not being replaced by younger voters.

I know almost no one under the age of 50 who is a Republican.

Sure you have your hateful 4chan trolls. But those are dejected losers who don't fit in with their peers. They aren't representative of anything.

Gen Y is even more liberal than the millennial and Gen X generations. Just look at how they've reacted to the Parkland shooting.

I predict that in less than 20 years the Republican Party will be an irrelevant third party. It may even happen sooner with the way Trump is turning it into a complete embarrassment to America.

An easier way to get around it is saying that, when implementing such law, that it only accounts for people born after year X.

Still. I don't think, and I hope not, we will see this proposed.

That's not how it works at all. What those older people believe usually used to be considered progressive. It's not that the people became more conservative as they got older. It's that the world around them got more liberal.

Millenials and Gen X'ers were overwhelmingly not Republican. They don't share Republican ideals or values. They aren't going to suddenly become Bible thumbing bigoted Republicans just because they get old. That's moronic.

The Democratic Party will probably become the more conservative party. The Republican Party will be phased out. A new progressive party will emerge. Maybe the Green Party.

You'll see in November. Trump isn't a sign of things to come. He's the last fart in the wind of a dying party and the greedy out of touch baby boomer generation.

@vl4d_l3nin: in a sense, that may be true.

I think a more accurate analogy is the majority of the population rides along the general social progression of the world and then just get off at a certain point of their lives.

Even the most right wing assholes are more progressive than right wing assholes of 50 years ago.

I feel like a lot of maturing can happen over the course of 3 years, and having to wait my let people around that age give some extra thought to whether they really want to be in life or death situations on a regular basis.

Hopefully, I would like them to change the votes of women and minorities voting democrat to a percentage to level it with the republican vote because affirmative action and the Democrats play identity politics

Is everybody on the left this delusional?

Ah the typical, "Im going to make outrageous claims and say anyone who disputes it doesn't know the facts despite me not posting any facts myself (because i don't have any, fox news just told me what to think)" You people never fail to give me a good laugh. That isnt even starting to mention how you generalized over half of the population of the country which alone is a hilariously ignorant thing to do. The fact that people like you feel the need to post nonsense (when you make claims and don't back them up they are indeed nonsense) just strengthens those you seek to put down.

I think the age to drink and the age to join the military should be the same. If that's raising one, or lowering the other.

No. That just makes more unemployed people. You cannot take an avenue away from individuals to have a job. SMH you don't think your arguments through do you?

Then lower the drinking age. If you can die for your country, you should be able to have a beer.

Add something to a conversation for once instead of taking one small part of a conversation, taking it out of context then leaving the thread.

My comment was in response to yours. You have only that idea above so what did you think I should respond to.....the weather?

Voter suppression is the right's bread and butter for when things get close.

But yeah, both sides are delusional.

I'm not afraid of the youth.

The youth hates the far left. Gen Z is the next wave of conservationism and centrism. Just give it 5 years.

@bigfootpart2:

Honestly, I don't know anyone personally between 50 and 70 that's Republican.....ok 1 guy. All Democrats. Generation Jones (1955 - 1964) tend to be Democrats. We are the age 53 - 62 group that President Obama (he is 3 weeks older than me) was part of and the first generation that grew up after the Civil Rights movement. We are no longer placed together with the older Boomers because there is a sharp divide between growing up in the 60's and growing up in the 70's.

Dream on. The kids at Parkland are a glimpse of the future. And it's the furthest thing possible from conservative. 4chan trolls, red pill, and alt right idiots on youtube are not representative of "the youth." These are the dejected losers of their generation. LOL if you really think young people are going to join the party of bible thumping homophobic rich old white guys.
