Cenk Uygur (TYT/Justice Dems founder) filing to run for congressional seat once occupied by Katie Hill

The Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur filed Wednesday to run for the House seat vacated by former Rep. Katie Hill (D-Calif.), who resigned following a House Ethics Committee investigation into her inappropriate sexual relationships with staffers.

An FEC filing dated Wednesday announces the formation of the "Cenk for Congress" committee, with Uygur listed as the group's treasurer. Uygur addressed the filing on Twitter, writing: "To all reporters: No comment."

The left-leaning broadcaster aligns himself with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, and in 2016 endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic presidential primary. He recently endorsed Sanders in the 2020 primary, as well.

Hill's district will be the site of a special election following her resignation last month due to the publication of nude pictures of her as well as an investigation by the House Ethics Committee into allegations of an improper relationship with a House staffer. Hill had also admitted to an affair with a campaign staffer, though that relationship did not break House rules.

She tended her resignation while blaming the photos' publication on her estranged husband, Kenny Heslep, and has vowed to fight "revenge porn" after leaving office.

I'm going to answer with one simple question: WHY?

Why? As a big **** you to the dems who ousted her in the first place?

People like Uyger aren't an answer to a problem, they're a symptom of the problem.

Alex Jones is definitely worse, but that's like saying is a 10 pound sack of shit smellier than a five pound sack of shit? No, there's just more of it. Surprised neither of them had a heart attack during that exchange.

Why does it bring you joy? It's depressing; these are people with the time, money, and resources that can afford to influence our political system. That's scary as hell. Literally 99% of America is more rational than these two people in the video but we'd never know it because we see videos like this and go "Wow, so that's how things are?", file that away as "normal", and move on.

My biggest concern at this point is when will the democrats realize they have to stoop to the republcan's level?

Republican molests/dates/marries 16 year old girls? He is defended by his party.

Democrat sleeps with a subordinate (who, at the time of the affair, wasn't a subordinate but a peer)? Removed from office.

Having the moral high ground is a double-edged sword in politics.

Neither the Democrats or the Republicans have any leg to stand on when it comes to improprieties.

I'm not really a fan of Cenk doing news stuff, and I haven't been for a long time, but this actually seems like a better fit for him. He's been all about making his opinion known and trying to influence people to believe what he believes, and I think that's bad for a news anchor (hell, they've even funded political candidates before which is something I don't think people in the news should be in the business of doing), but it's one of two things a politician tries to do, the other is representing the views of their constituents.

I think this is a better way to spend his time then continuing with The Young Turks and trying to influence politics under the guise of being news.

He didn't tell people to send death threats, he however did accuse some of being crysis actors, which was definitely wrong and this mistake did cost him his space on the internet (besides his own website), he has been black listed, besides guest appearances on joe rogan he doesnt exist unless you look on infowars.

Hes apologized and recognized he was very wrong by doing that several times, check out joe rogans 9/11 podcast with Alex, he talks alot about it in depth. He also talks alot about Epsteins pedo island, keep in mind this podcast was 2 years ago. Alex has been preaching about Epstien for the last 5 years. Very entertaining

Also Alex never went to shoot up a pizza place, but he was blamed by the media for the actions of someone else who went into a pizza place with a gun, who said he did because of hearing alex jones.

i dont take either jones or cenk seriously, i think the big difference for me is that Alex admits hes part entertainer, where cenk takes himself very seriously.

I don't like to draw correlations of heinous actions to the words of other people. I don't blame Cenk for any connection to the shooting in the same way I don't blame Alex Jones for the dude who shot up the pizza place, it's just funny to watch Cenk squirm whenever the dude is brought up. @jeezers: Reading again, I realize my wording wasn't clear. Yes, it was Jones's followers that sent the threats to parents and took a gun to the pizza place. The point I was trying to make was that people had their lives disrupted in direct responds to stories Jones kinda pulled out of his butt. That is what ultimately lead to his removal from Youtube.

I'm also asking if there is a actual equivalent situation with TYT as others seemed to insinuate. As in, TYT pulling some crap out of their butt, and it directly resulting in someone's harrasment?

I remember when this happened, TYT did several videos on this 7 year old black girl who was shot and killed, the whole reason they decided to cover the story was because they initially thought the shooter was white, he refers to the incident as terrorism, mentions "they dont know if the shooter was wearing a red hat yet", they even did 2 other videos on this incident, but pulled them off thier youtube channel, one in particular was just on the rise of white terriorism and how it relates to this incident, the KKK, all that.

So here is the kicker, the reason they pulled the other videos was because it came out that the shooter was black. The backlash was intense so they pulled the other vids. Of coarse no apology.

The vid i linked (that they diddnt pull) you can see got ratioed pretty good. Comments point out what they did. This isnt the only time they have done stuff like this. They look for specific stories to stir up racial division and i find it to be a fucked up way to use his platform.

Once it comes out the shooter was black they brushed the whole story under the rug. As others stated that elliot shooter was a tyt fan, but I dont blame that on cenk.
